His problem is between the years and of course we’re stuck with him so any improvement seen is goodCal is toast man.
He is a 5 million dollar replacement-level AHL goalie at this point.

Happy for Turcs. Keep it kid hopefully you'll be a full timer in 5 years.
If this guy ends up being a Phil Danault type, I would be more than extremely happy. I love the way Turcotte plays hockey. He is fun to watch and you can just see the skill and attitude stuck in that body. Kid just needs a break healthwise.I love seeing Turc getting to the dirty areas around the net and making things happen. It's Mike Richards-esque as we've all hoped (though he's got miles to go). I just hope he's working with coaches on better situational awareness to avoid another big hit.
On a 6 game losing streak to boot. Ouch. Turcs is day-to-day sheesh of course.Pretty ugly game tonight, bad reffing, bad bounces, guys just not bearing down, Reign looking extremely average, rink falling apart (more glass/boards issues and giant puddles on the ice). Fun game overall--2 dollar beer night after all!--but made Sharks legend Aaron Dell like like prime Hasek. And no Turcotte, banged up day-to-day I hear, made me grumpy.
Petersen allowed only 7 goals today.
What a great goalie he is.
Did not see the game so can’t offer my view but I’ve heard Fuhr take apart goalie performances in the past.I was listening to the Coachella Valley Firebirds vs. Ontario Reign game today. Grant Huhr is the color commentator for the Firebirds and he briefly talked about the game last week where Pederson gave up 7 goals (on 38 shots) against the Firebirds, in a 7-6 Reign loss. Grant said about Pederson "though he gave up 7 goals, he played well." I almost choked on my spit when I heard that. But I guess goalies, active or retired, stand up for their own.
I noticed. The signing of Tyrell Goulbourne seems to have gone unnoticed.
Jesus thats an awesome name. It’s like if someone named a hockey player that was born in the world of Game of Thrones. The signing of Tyrell Goulbourne seems to have gone unnoticed. Adds a physical winger to the Reign, who retired at the start of the season but has come back, he’s just 28. Hes a former 3rd round pick with the Flyers, with 11 career NHL games.
Scored on his debut last night and dropped the gloves early, which I’m sure is part of the reason he was signed.
He's injured again. He's just made of fine china. Pretty much it. Just hope he is healty for a whole season in the AHL that would be an accomplishment in itself. Poor kid.Alex is a ghost again, what’s up?
Love the guy and at least now I know, he probably won’t get traded at the deadline.
3+3 in his last 4 games. It seems he’s figuring out the pro game and finding some confidence.I see Chromiak has 3 points so far tonight. Neat. Starting to score more consistently the last week or two.
Seemed like a fun game, unlike what we witnessed with the parent club.

Neither goal looked like Petersen could do much, with meaningful deflections. Did anyone see enough of the game to say how he’s doing?
The thing will Cal his style isn’t one that looks great. At his best he’s a slightly better version of Copley, which is slightly ironic. If he can get his composure back he can do a job for us. I though he started well in Ontario, there were then a couple games where he was lit up (mostly due to horrific D) but I have not seen how he’s responded to that, other than highlights which doesn’t tell us much.At least for us The Gulls looked comically bad on just about every goal against them. It was like they were told their dogs died before the game started. So flat-footed and half the goals they practically knocked in themselves, lol.
I have little experience watching him, but from the few that have on here and that I've talked to they've said that while his numbers are good, he has looked okay but not great, and is very protected by the Reign's defensive corps. Pulling for him though. His turning it around to at least be capable of taking one of the two slots on the Kings is paramount. The buyout or the trade to get rid of him would be extremely costly during their window to compete soon.
Exactly that. He’s at his best when he quiet, great choice of word. If he can rediscover his composure and confidence then he’s capable and can certainly just be as solid as Copley.Cal's AHL numbers this year are the best he's ever produced, but that should be expected. He probably has a better D in front of him now then he did a few years back when the Reign were a defensive train wreck and he as making 40+ saves every night. Hopefully he can get the mental part of his game in order and stay quiet in the net, his strength.
Turcotte with goal and assist today already.Going tonight. May go tomorrow, too. In one of the corners, row 11.
Anyone else going? I see some King fans each time I go here, in Loveland.
Supposed to start snowing before gametime. 70% chance at 7 pm and 100% at 8 pm.
I live in Loveland, (just S of Ft Collins) since 2020 and it's an easy 4 mile drive.
And drive 45 miles to Denver, for the King games. Dec 29 game was awesome.
Chromiak looks like hes found his confidence...Kid could be a player. Same with Fagemo....like a younger version of Arviddson.Nice 2nd period.
I think both Chromiak and Helenius will feature on the Kongs, one day.
Not sure bout anyone else.
