The most unforgiving thing about Petersen's performance is hearing the awful Roadrunners announcers announce every goal like it won the Stanley Cup.
Awwwe yes I remember that duo when I had a subscription. Hilariously awful.

Bounced back with 44 saves on 47 shots, won the game and named 3rd star.
That’s a good sign if anything. All goalies let in bad goals, it’s the response that counts.

He’s never going to get his confidence back in just a few games, they will need to give him at least until the end of January before they think about a recall IMO, even if he has 5 consecutive shutouts. He needs to get his technique back to where it was and have him executing on muscle memory and instinct. That’s not going to happen in 6-10 games.

Kupari was atrocious today.

I beginning to believe that he does not have scorer upside in him at all.
Just by now ? That was always the case in his scouting report, so you probably had wrong expectations.

Rasmus knows he should hustle, play physical and defensibly sound and he might have a NHL career like Michael Frolik or so.

There are a bunch of nobodies drafted around him. How come we expect to have drafted a big time scorer at spot 20. At this point it is what it is and I am okay with a speedy 3rd/4th liner.

His skillset was lauded, and at least one independent scouting service called him one of the most skilled players in the draft.

Alluding to a lack of skill in the scouting reports, unless I'm misunderstanding, is not accurate.

So what do we have in Kupari? We have perhaps one of the five best players in this draft in overall offensive skill

Kupari has a ton of raw talent and is far from a finished product.

Super slick offensive-minded center with good size and a knack for making big plays. Kupari’s highlight-reel dominance in last August’s under-18 Ivan Hlinka tournament got his draft year off to an excellent start, and he hasn’t disappointed with his league play as a rookie in a men’s elite league.

“We felt there was probably a little bit more offensive upside with [Kupari],” explained Futa, when I asked what pushed the Finnish forward ahead of the other prospect. “Both kids we were looking at were excellent skaters, and this kid, I’d say he’s a little bit younger as far as where we think he’s going to go with his physical growth and development, as well.”

Where were you reading he lacked offensive upside?

Before and after the draft you already heard people talk about his lack of hockey sense and offensive potential.

The extreme positive draft reviews do not mean that much to me to be honest, KP. That’s the stuff you always read from a potential 1st round pick. Heck, he does have very good hands and speed so it’s not really that strange.

While it normally does not say that much, it also speak volumes how many Finnish hockey followers did not like Kupari. It was actually astonishing to read. After LA grabbed him, I have watched him a couple of times but not as much as Kempe.
I probably have been wrong numerous times [I can’t recall it though 😛] but the lack of hockey IQ with Kempe was already clear as day and Kupari for some reason was missing something too. After all, 19 players were picked before him. That one good season in his own league ended badly in the playoffs. He was a healthy scratch at one point too.

We should be satisfied with a career 3rd liner. I never saw him as one of LA’s best offensive prospects.

In my view Petersen has 2 main problems:

He has really weak arms and he does not have any idea where puck will go when he rejects it with upper portions of his body.

Petersen is slow moving from side to side and he does not control puck movement doing this.

I am reading about his skillset and it looks to me like those quotes about different player:

“We have perhaps one of the five best players in this draft in overall offensive skill. He has quick hands and can change the angle in the blink of an eye making a goaltender’s job extremely difficult. He has a rocket of a shot and isn’t afraid to fire from anywhere. When he has the puck on his stick, he’s very aggressive in attacking the middle”.

I am watching him in NHL and in AHL and do not see quick hands and a rocket of a shot.

The rest of his skills are on display for sure, but I do not see quick hands and a rocket of a shot at all, unfortunately.

At least now we can say L.A has a goalie prospect in the AHL that has a chance to play in the NHL.

Just looking for the silver lining here folks, what a shite show we have in net. 🤮
If I was Blake I’d be targeting Erik Portillo from the Sabres and hopefully they take one of Bjarnason or Hrabal

I would love to get Portillo as it moves him to the top of the goalie prospect charts for us. They need a right shot defenseman so I am sure we can get something to work

Kupari is a wing. He was not good in his first stint last year coming in as a center. Then he goes down to the Reign, plays wing exclusively and does well. They bring him back up and he plays well at wing. Then they decide that they're going to bench QB for the playoffs and they move Kupari back to center. Just typical yo-yo bull crap from this organization. And for all that is holy, please keep Gabe at wing. Kempe is not a center either FFS.

Shit, I’d probably try to dump both Durzi and Walker on them for Portillo and some nachos lol

That’s just Todd, Todding around, all the Todding time!

The weird thing about it is that I thought Kupari would always be a wing. I remember when we drafted him, literally no one was thinking "this guy is going to be a top 1-2 center". I think everyone thought he was a top 9 winger with speed.

I remember watching the draft on TV. I can't recall if it was Button, Mackenzie or both, but it was definitely said that coming into his draft year he was highly touted, even along the lines of a potential top 10 talent.

However, he showed very little throughout the year and they said scouts kind of soured on his potential due to tunnel vision, trying to do to much with the puck and lack of production.

They went on to say that he is projected more along the lines of a checking forward rather than a top 6 talent due to lack of offensive instincts. I remember this 100% because I thought... geez what a crappy Euro pick xD

But then he went on to have a really good D+1 year so people kind of flipped the script.

Then he came over and has shown flashes but overall kind of meh.

From watching him the last few years, he certainly has tons of offensive skill. Prospect wise, probably top 5 in LAs system purely based on tools and ability. In my opinion, his problem is the tool box or lack there of.
