Look at that second goal by QB. He's at the bottom half of the right circle and with his reach he beats the goaltender far side. He's looking mighty confident.

have the AHL Reign package and try to watch all games...

Byfield with 7 goals in 10 games. Starting to see the confidence and the size factor come to play.

Peterson- Not spectacular but making the saves he needs to make. Have to be encouraged by AHL performance so far.

Spence didnt stand out at all...and ended the night +2. Hes a special player- solid top 4 dman with potential for top line pairing. Just no weakness to his game.

Only other remark is Helenius- total AHL 4th liner at this point but he is really willing to get his nose dirty. Wont say he is fearless at this point, but he actively seeks out conflict and shies away from nothing. Potential 4th line C with grit and fight. Fact he does get PK time also testament that he does have some rudimentary skill.

Big Picture for Kings- Byfield and Spence get the call up, Kings dump Walker or place on Waivers. Move improves the Kings out of the gate 10/15%.

Byfield...

Yeah, Borgeault is a legit prospect, but Cal probably doesn't like either of those goals; he didn't get his glove up in position on the first one, 2nd one was the same body language that got him canned, had no clue how it went right thru him. Baby steps.

Byfield 6+3 in his last 6 games. Including 3 multi point games, this is what we want to see and theres some consistency. I’m mixed on a call up, because whilst there is value in leaving him there to work on certain things you want him called up when in good form offensively and fully confident.

And if he’s in good form and his return coincides with Iafallo’s, then he’s in a position to succceed on the third line. Also gets Vilardi back to wing

Sturm should immediately put a bag over his head if a penalty is called and the Reign are going on the PP>
Kupari was atrocious today.

I beginning to believe that he does not have scorer upside in him at all.

Sturm proved to me that he is not and never will be good coach.

His PP is very stupid.

Tynan and Spence are 2 triggermen and nothing else is present.

Seriously it was just like the old stagnant Kings power play. You would think they would incorporate the variability and system Hiller has the Kings playing nicely. I thought they mimicked the big clubs systems? Yup Kupari was a fare stealing passenger for sure. Anderson looked like the dog pooh on the bottom of my shoe. These guys need to not read what some of the posters are writing on the Kings board, keep their heads down work hard and show they are dominate in the AHL. Not sulk and whine about no call up or being sent down, and bitch about it in euro languages the other guys and staff can't understand. Would have been nice if Cal stopped one of those 2 shorthanded breakaways. Mike Mckenna had an interesting take on the Kings dicey goaltending situation on the Locked on Kings podcast. Basically Cal and Quick play an outdated high risk style, that goes way sideways on bad nights. Copley plays the more controlled style that most successful goalies use these days. I loved Copely in preseason for Kings and early for AHL. But then he had some bad games. He seems streaky but crossing my fingers. Cal was supposed to bump Quick down to # 2. He is still the number one, giving him contract leverage. Buyout on Cal is too much, Anyone young gun acquired will need 3 years seasoning. McKenna impressed me, the Kings need to hire someone like him. Could be the end of an era for that style goaltending and coaching and management.

That’s what is weird with Petersen, because he made his initial breakthrough playing a very controlled style and he has lost that for some reason. He had good fundamentals with questions about if he could be athletic enough, but his technique just fell apart. It’s almost like he is trying too hard.

Petersen with self-inflicted goal.

I think he cannot be repaired...

The most unforgiving thing about Petersen's performance is hearing the awful Roadrunners announcers announce every goal like it won the Stanley Cup.
I'm not subscribing this year but in previous years of watching AHL games, man that guy is something else. Every time the opposition scores, the guy loses all enthusiasm. He's dead inside.
