Do they have Kempe playing center or wing? FWIW, I think he needs to stay @ center......

He looked like a whole different player at center--more offensively dominant.

However, he still needs to learn to be consistent with the defensive responsibilities of center as well.

I agree.

Kempe has been playing mostly wing.

I don't think the Kings development staff are serious about making Kempe a Center.

He can play it in a pinch.

You mean reverting him back to his natural position? Kempe is a natural centre. Only been forced out to the wing in the past 3 years. If anything he is still learning the wing position more than centre.

It's why he looks much more comfortable at centre, IMO. Again like Carter coaches see a fast guy with a big shot and want him on wing for plays off the rush. But eventually they'll realize he is just better in the middle. Carter didn't play centre again after junior until his 3rd or 4th year in NHL.

Maybe Kempe's hockey sense isn't developed enough to play C at this point.
(Center being a more complex position, tactically).

Just a guess.

Hockey sense is one of his strengths. Shift to shift intensity is probably his biggest weakness. Centre isn't really more complex, just requires a different focuses on positioning.

FWIW, I always thought Frolov would have been much more effective if he had been a center.....

Mike Amadio has six points in his last five games. His starting to play with more speed and purpose.

I swear this kid reminds me so much of Mike Richards, minus the temper Richards had though.

Nice to see Amadio tear it up, the Kings need him and Kempe to come through and be NHL players at some point.

Nice too see I wasn't the only one who noticed a Mike Richards type game, although Amadio is 2-3" taller and likely 10-15lbs heavier :naughty:

So it looks like Jack Flinn will stay the Ontario back-up for now and Jonah Imoo got an SPC with the Manchester Monarchs now that Jack Campbell's back. Congrats to Jonah! Miles Koules also got called up to the Reign. Condolences to Jonny Brodzinski on the passing of his grandmother.

I didn't realize the Monarchs Twitter person loves them some funny gifs. Nice.

Ontario won their game the other night 3-1. :yo:

Finally, who doesn't love ketchup?

Man, I love Coach Stothers.

Bad month for the Reign, lost five of their last eight, with Kempe/Mersch and several others in goal scoring slumps.

Defense is a mess and struggling along with Goalies.

PK is a mess, D is getting beat to rebounds, Campbell is playing better than the score indicates, and they have no one who can consistently carry the puck into the zone to create offense. They can make the playoffs, but they are not the dominate AHL team they have been the last two years. Barracuda are much improved over last season.

I take it this means LaDue is under-achieving?

Kind of wish we re-signed Schultz just to stabilize things on the back end / PK, and let the kids learn without getting pounded every game.

He shows small flashes of brilliance, but a lot of mistakes too that probably wouldn't be tolerated at the next level (turnovers coming out of the D zone). They teamed him up with Scuderi over the weekend as a pair. He does have an excellent wrist shot from the blue line on the PP. It's all part of learning how to be a pro. Who knows, maybe like Kempe as it was mentioned in the preseason, they both would be better players with higher skill around them. Both are struggling a bit right now, especially Kempe.

I think they knew Scuderi was going to be coming to the AHL, and you can't have 2 older guys taking up D spots. Trotman out injured right now is hurting the D, especially after Gravel got called up. Lintuniemi and Leslie, two guys I don't ever think will see the next level, not exactly excellent on the back end. It's a crap shoot.

Kempe's last five games have been a mighty struggle. It's only Five games though, he will learn from it.

Reign can turn the page on November, 3-6 record with scorers in slumps.

Coach Strothers said it best "Growing pains, young team".

It's time for Stothers to wave his magic wand and pull the team together into a formidable 2-way force.

It's gonna' happen soon. I can just feel it.

But maybe the goaltending isn't as good as we've had the last couple years?
Just a guess.

Hopefully Kempe can get off his struggles tonight, blanked in his last Six games.

He is struggling.

Kempe/Mersch continue their goal scoring troubles, Brodzinski now is tied for lead in points on the team. Mersch only has one goal in his last 13 games, but has 8 assists in that time frame. Kempe has been scoreless in his last 7 games.

Brodzinski is having a fine season so far, looks like a gamer, night in, night out.
