Did you watch the game? Guy was giving it his all anyone saying aho is a problem is just out to lunch I’m sorry. Check his linemates and then go check the other 3 teams left and there top line centres and see who they are playing with it’s not even comparable and that’s no slight on Jarvis but aho did what he could with what he was given 1 guy can’t win a series
Tkachuk disagrees with that last statement

Sure, but they went from a 15-16-4 start to a 27-16-4 finish, including 6-2-0 going into the playoffs. This isn’t just a hot streak, they‘ve been playing at a 100+ point pace for over half the season now and got steadily better the entire time.

They needed a nudge to get over the bubble because of the slow start, but otherwise they would have been by far and away the best team left outside the bracket in recent years. As we just saw.
I’m not taking anything away from that. Or how they are playing in the playoffs. But the fact remains if Pittsburgh doesn’t lose to f***ing Chicago the team that is going to win the Stanley Cup, in my opinion, wouldn’t even be in the tournament. That’s f***ing crazy and almost completely invalidates the regular season.

Florida got the benefit of the calls basically all series. It’s tough to be gracious given that bullsh**.
Yup. Can’t believe they got a PP in last minute plus in OT in game 2.

But….we needed to kill ‘em and we didn’t.

Same old refrain…90% PK in regular season but drop the ball in key times against higher quality competition (Boston, Tampa, Rags and now Florida) during last 5 years. And with our anemic PP it decides series.

Like I said in an earlier post……IMO; our forward talent is bereft of goal scoring/PP specialists. There isn’t a coach on this planet that could turn our roster of forwards into ones with PP excellence.

Your delusional the guy was playing with a second year rookie and either a ahl forward or a bottom 6 guy basically all playoffs
Calm down. I didn’t say Aho was useless. My original response was that he was a much better regular season player than playoffs. I’m looking at his whole career not just the NYI and NJD series

A half point player a 40 point player. Necas doesn’t bring anywhere near enough to the table when he doesn’t have the puck to be getting top minutes and scoring 40 points.
Postseason is going to depress scoring. Amd when was he getting top minutes this postseason?

He got PP1 time, but I don't think they ever played him on Aho's line at even strength this offseason.

Sometimes you have to create your chances and create your breaks. We simply do not have the kinds of players who can do that, at least not in our forward lines.

Until we fix that, we will continue to fail just like this every year, despite the fancy stats saying we shouldn't
Marner creates chances and breaks!

Who are we realistically getting for Necas? Wouldn't be opposed to trading him but obviously it needs to be in a package for someone better around his same age.

I mean McDavid could use a change of scenery.....

Sorry couldn't help myself

Question.. Was the decision to allow the last goal come from NHL or from the refs on the ice? Did the fact the other series being 3-0 have any impact on that last goal being allowed? If the other series was 2-1 would that goal been waved off giving the Canes a chance in OT?

Hopefully Skinner.
I think Skinner’s served enough time in that sports Gulag called Buffalo. Time to come back to his real home.

Given that everyone seems to think the NHL is rigged, I’d say the powers that be in Vegas made that call ;)

It went to the “decision” room. I gather one overturned goal per series is your allowance.

Random thought: you know how when a football team goes offside the offense gets a free play? Well when that happens, the QB should throw the ball directly in the air. When a defender gets under the ball as it’s coming down, the entire offense lines up and just knocks the ever loving **** out of him when he catches it.

Sure, you wouldn’t score, but you’d knock that guy clean out of the game and have a much better chance to score later.

Anyway, carry on with last minute playoff hockey.

Similarly, when you’re playing a really hot goalie, aim at the crest.

Sure, you won’t score, but eventually, with enough shots, like water dripping on a canyon rock over the course of many years, you’ll bore a hole in his chest cavity, and then with one final shot you’ll strike the heart. And then the hot goalie will die, and you’ll have a much better chance to score later.
