7 points in 14 games this year.
5 points in 14 games during last year's disappointing season.
5 points in 11 games in 2021.
4 points in 8 games in 2020.

He's consistently been a half point per game playoff performer except for last year's complete disappointment.
Once he was pushed to the Staal line...it was predictable. When he won the Caulder with the Checkers and performed so well this season, he wasn't playing in that type of role or with those line mates.

I thought last year a change might be the best for him, as Sara suggested, with the line bounces and how that affects his play on the emotional side of things.

nah I'd be ok if he didn't. Guy is an asshole who ran himself out of town here twice and tried to bury Brindy at the end by stripping him of the C while he was still playing

That’s not true. At all. The decision came from Rutherford and Rod was involved with veto power.

Rod was a healthy scratch at the time and a shadow of himself. Staal was at the peak of his career and everyone expected him to get even better. The decision to do the transition while Rod was still around made sense at the time. He was done and it was embarrassing to be out there without a C because the guy wearing it was watching from the sidelines.

Brindy had the worst +/- in the entire league by a *very* wide margin that year. He was terrible and stayed a year too long.

As for being "an asshole" who "ran himself out of town", I don't even know what that means. What are you even talking about?
MO wasted an ungodly number of games after we were out of contention, refusing to give young guys and draft picks any ice time. He actively punished kids for not being able to save a team who was already eliminated. Not to mention holding grudges against higher tier players. Not to mention the bag skates. The guy's an asshole, but hey I'd love to have a couple beers with him.

Look Brindy was in serious decline when he got stripped. I believe he even had the chance to stop the decision but he declined.

Leave it alone. We all know he gets on a roll and doesn’t stop lol.

Necas can go. I have no qualms with that. He had a great regular season but his true colors came out again towards the end, and definitely into the playoffs. He's a regular season type player. There's plenty of them that have long careers. Skinner comes to mind.
Skinner could be beast mode in the playoffs, but we may never know.

And once again, he was Pittsburgh losing to the team that is picking #1 overall next year in game 82 away from missing the playoffs entirely with a team that won the presidents trophy last year.

The NHL playoffs are the dumbest thing on earth.

Sure, but they went from a 15-16-4 start to a 27-16-4 finish, including 6-2-0 going into the playoffs. This isn’t just a hot streak, they‘ve been playing at a 100+ point pace for over half the season now and got steadily better the entire time.

They needed a nudge to get over the bubble because of the slow start, but otherwise they would have been by far and away the best team left outside the bracket in recent years. As we just saw.

simply put, had the team finished more of the chances they had, there wouldn’t be complaints of the rest.

but the outcome of the games were directly effected by more than just the canes inability to finish more of their chances. Not worth discussing it because it will not be changed. Nothing will be done to address it.

Two PP’s after going down 3-2, nothing.

FLA gets 1 PP late, goal.

There’s your f***ing difference.
This.
yep, most frustrating series I've ever watched. Literally have never seen a series where a team outplays their opponent all 4 games and gets swept like this while not getting shit tier goaltending. But we f***ing found a way.
And this.

I truly have never seen a more frustrating series. Throughout it all, Florida looked like such a beatable team, and the scoreboard for every game reflects that; literally all 1 goal leads for Florida, and two overtime games.

Throw in the bad luck for the Canes this series (seriously, it was constant bad luck with shots hitting posts, bars, Slavin's stick in Burns' skate, bad bounces, and then several injuries this game on top of the injures we had from the regular season) and the refs, and this was a heart attack inducing series as a Canes fan.

I would say we'll do better next year, but I'm sure we'll have 1-2 long term injuries to major players come playoff time, and the refs f***ing us over at the worst times again. Also, God knows how disappointing this offseason will be with trying to get an elite player(s) given our recent past history on that front.

Aho comes to mind too
Did you watch the game? Guy was giving it his all anyone saying aho is a problem is just out to lunch I’m sorry. Check his linemates and then go check the other 3 teams left and there top line centres and see who they are playing with it’s not even comparable and that’s no slight on Jarvis but aho did what he could with what he was given 1 guy can’t win a series
