Still early in the season and with the play they have shown, their record really could be much worse. Will they turn it around and at least make the playoffs? Possibly, but if yes, they really won´t accomplish anything. The real problem is the structure of the roster and the future outlook. Unfortunately when Sweeney has cap space he is like a kid who gets 5 dollars from his grandma. Spending it as fast as possible on any crap he can get instead of saving it on something big and useful.

I guess what concerns me is the lack of passion with this team.............

There are off-ice issues going on starting with the health of Papa Jacobs as it has been at least 18 months since he has been seen at any NHL event. One has to assume Deleware North is exploring buying the Celtics to ensure no competing arena.

The Bruins have been lucky so far as Ottawa, Buffalo and Detroit have sputtered and Montreal is a mess.

If Sweeney isn't going to fire Monty soon then do something, anything to shake up this clueless crew ASAP.
Sweeney fires Monty. Neely fires Sweeney. Jacobs fires Neely. The seasons starts again. This is the shake up the Bruins need. Don't just fire Montgomery because he was a bad hire, because he was a bad hire. The guy that fired so many good coaches to get this guy Montgomery because he will play the youth. But the Bruins don't have that many good young players to play. Firing Cassidy was a save your job, Sweeney for not getting talent to win long term. Every Bruins Executive is trying to save their job except Jacobs. BTW replacing the Jacobs family would be an improvement as well.

Charlie Jacob just gave the FO a vote of confidence in the offseason. He doesn´t see that the writing is on the wall and some fans still don´t see too, as making the playoffs was seen as a big accomplishment. Monty isn´t the problem, it´s the roster structure ... Unfortunately I think we have to brace ourselves that they are some very meh years on the horizon.

Ah, the dreaded vote of confidence. "Good Anakin, good"-I mean good Charlie, good.

I have heard from trusted sources that negotiations are happening

Bruins and Sabres trade franchises
Penguins and Bruins then trade franchises

When the Zamboni chips settle you have

Delaware North is in a position to redevelop downtown Buffalo which is in its DNA
Terry Pegula gets a chance to redevelop Pittsburgh and the Boston royal family gets stronger.

Yes, on the worst offensive team in the league the real problem is the only guy scoring with any sort of consistency.
yeah, 2 goals in 9 games.
Trade everyone except Pasta and Sawyman and build a core.
Because they have been so exceptionally good this year? One is surfing and other one wants to be a friend with other goalies rather than his teammates.

And no. Their current state isn’t all on Pastrnak. But look at a guy like Kucherov and tell me Pastrnak is even remotely at that level

Once again, so what? You trade a guy because he's not quite at the level of a very small handful of forwards in the NHL? As if you could trade Pasta and bring back a better forward than him. Cause the MacKinnons/Kucherov's/etc. are available all over the league.

I mean, if you could trade Pasta for a forward of that caliber, I'd be open to it, but it's too unrealistic and foolish to talk about. He's still an elite forward in this league.

I'd make the same statement about McAvoy. I'd love to flip him for a better D-man. But which one of Makar/Hughes/Fox/Heiskanen/etc. are you bringing back?

So if your not upgrading from those two players, you suggest trading them for 3 ponies instead? When has that strategy ever worked for the Bruins?

A thousand miles from nowhere
People claiming a lack of talent being responsible, how are you explaining last year - mid tier players over-performing in a perfect storm type context, I assume?
NHL Channel was talking about that same thing. Same coach, same core, with few changes most analysts thought preseason would be upgrades...and it turned into a complete mess.
If they couldn't figure it out I won't pretend to have the answer. But I do think Sweeney should make a trade first if possible before replacing the coach.
