This team can barely win three games in a row. It took them a year to do it. They haven’t won more than 3 in two seasons.

They aren’t playing good enough hockey. It’s inconsistent and that’s not good enough for a team with playoff hopes.
It is early, let's hope time with Keefe and new players all gel to get them into the playoffs.

the Devils are:

6th in the league in goals scored per game
5th in the league in goals allowed per game
8th in the league in xG%
4th in the league on the PP
5th in the league on the PK
14th in the league in shots/game
7th in the league in shots allowed/game

to imply they aren't even good enough to be a playoff team is....kind of wild!
Thank you.

They shouldn’t have lost to the wings or islanders either and shouldn’t have have coughed up 2 goals in a minutes to
the islanders and have gone to OT with them (it was good they did since they won but my point is they should’ve won in regulation if they didn’t shit the bed.)
Do you like the NJ Devils? Are you a fan of the NJ Devils? Just wondering why you are here, that's all.

I thought the Devils played a high tempo game and made the effort. Sometimes these games are won on puck-luck and Tampa's 2 first goals changed the outcome. Tampa is better than their early record and losing Stamkos wasn't the worst thing to happen to them. Victor Hedman is playing some of his best hockey ever.

4-0 is not indicative of the game, I bet we would beat them if we played again tomorrow tonight. I do believe we are the better team.

There are a couple things that we can learn from how Tampa switched the momentum on us in the first period last night and got their first goal - a score that with Vasilevsky playing lights out on his tribute night in front of his home crowd turned out decisive.

First was how Hedman and McDonut saw how we were getting behind them and stepped up into center ice to break up our puck possession and to start to dump the puck in deep behind us. That shifted momentum and style and zone of play.

Second was Kucherov’s hit on Dillon that separated him from the puck and led to a point blank chance on us about one shift before they went ahead.

The first man in on the forecheck is the absolute key to the cycle game. Kucherov gets a lot of well earned props for his passing and skill - and the passing was evident there.

But first came the hit - how efficiently and effortlessly he closed with Dillon, crushed him (without taking a penalty on a borderline play - but Kuchrov knows how to walk a tightrope on the “border” of the rules) separated the puck and took possession.

You can argue that that hit and forecheck changed the game. Kucherov is built like a fire hydrant and is a much more efficient and economical skater and physical guy than one normally realizes - because his other skills are so awesome you tend to overlook those aspects of his game. He’s an MVP caliber guy.

We on the other hand do not as yet have a first man in on our dump and chase game. Tatar is about our best at it and maybe Meier can do it too if he chooses to.

I didn't have it on my rehab TV. So I also missed it. Was the food good?
Yes. We went to a nice restaurant with friends we had not seen in a a while. It was great to see them and spend some time together. I had turtle soup which is a favorite of mine. Hopefully your rehab is progressing and you can head home soon.

The bruins are trash. Not worried about them what so ever.
If Swayman ever starts playing better than they might be able to stay in the race. I also worry about them getting the coaching bump after Montgomery is fired, unless he isn’t fired until they’re too far out.

But yeah, they were a bad team last year and nobody realized it. They just had two really good goalies and pucks were going in. They’re now getting the results they probably should have gotten last year. They went from Ullmark and Swayman to Korpisalo and Swayman impersonating Korpisalo lol.

Them being bad last year was probably the league’s best kept secret.

I know that there's no real difference between losing 4-0 and losing 4-1, but I really hate how much we're getting shutout in these losses.
We probably should have scored a goal tonight. On normal nights Blackwood probably allows 5 or 6 goals in the game we played him and got shutout.

The one game where we looked dead and the shutout was well deserved was the Calgary game. I think Jack had two breakaways that game, but I don’t think we had another good chance to score all night long. Pretty sure Vladar faced under 20 shots in that one.

IMHO TB was an interesting lesson. When the to six are shutdown or struggling, the bottom six really feels a tier below the top of the league. This is a thin margin. I wish Gritsyuk could arrive yesterday.

Our 4th line has Dowling and MacDermid on it. There is a reason it has been pretty bad since Bastian and Lazar went out with injury. Lazar atleast is a good PKer and faceoff guy if he isn't scoring the occasional goal or so. I like MacDermid and he is good for the role an an enforcer but he should not be in the lineup this much even if he only plays 5 minutes or so ago game. They need to call up Beckman and get Bastian back soon. If not call up Foote or Halonen.
