He intimidates and scares... lol
That is the answer
maybe not scares...but they want to avoid him
huge

..they remember this, coming to the net

Again. I'm guessing he played and you didn't. No disrespect...just that there is a few 'intangibles' in life
It's weird..but true..yes I played as well. Well, not well..

These things, make a difference..weird but true.

This is hockey of the highest calibre. If any of those players were scared away from going to the net because of Myers, they should retire.

You probably thought Gudbranson was effective too.

When you are on the bench..
And you see a 6'8' penalty-taking Dude...trust me...it throws off your game, sir.

The level of hockey doesn't change that

+300

Though that wasn’t my only bet. I also like betting in-game. My only regret is I didn’t put down $200 when the odds were +600 with 8 minutes left. I considered it but only went with $25 instead, thinking if they lose I wanted money to put on them for game 5.

With how bad Stalock is, should’ve went all in

No one mentioned our flying Frenchman AR26.

Hartman should learn a thing or two from watching him play. Always talking on the bench, always around Stalock after the whistle, hustles, yaps, in the middle of every scrum, causing said scrums, just being a distraction to the opposing team without being dirty......and when a lose puck squirts loose, the offensive instincts to score a breakaway beauty. He's a key morale signing too and solidified our bottom six along with Sutter and Motte.

If we play Dallas, they will remember the energy him and Janmark brought to their third line esp this last stretch when they look completely listless.

Gudbranson rarely actually three hits
Those players won’t be scared, but their bodies sure will eventually wear down from taking abuse from a freaking giant like Myers.
Again, Myers has finally realized how physically gifted he is

Well he should probably realize he’s the biggest guy on the ice and stop throwing his hands at every players face. The idiotic penalties need to stop

Do you have facts to back that up? Because it seems the majority think he was very good and didn't mind the penalties because they were to make a point not because he was caught out of position.
You have ragged on him from the start like you do when it comes to anything Benning has done. Funny how you mention the Jake play that wasn't even entirely Myers fault, yet you omit the goal he saved bailing out Q. Our entire top 4 was very good 3 weak goals 5 on 5 in 4 games, and literally no odd man rushes. These were the easiest 3 games Marky played in all season. I guess you prefer Biega instead? Pouliot? Guddy?

It is called making crap up in your head, believing it to be fact, and passing it along as fact. Everyone else’s opinion is apparently not supported by fact.

You read Jets fans comments about Myers and they came away with the same impression. The fact is that both Jets fans and majority of us here saw Myers perform pretty well in the playoffs/play in where he does a good job of using his size.

It’s pretty ridiculous that someone would argue that it is somehow a fact that Myers has sucked in this series based on one’s own fiction of imagination.

A simple 'No' would have been okay as well.
;)

I love your input, and appreciate it. Yet, sometimes there is more...

is it just me or do i get a vibing sensation that this current canucks team is somewhat eerily similar to that 2009/2010 hawks team? kane/toews on elcs like petterson/hughes. depth in all positions. couple of cagey veterans with stanley cup rings.

Look at the D minutes this game...........Huggy Bear leading the way with over 27 minutes (almost 3 minutes more than anyone else). LOVE TO SEE THAT. OJ with 6 and Stetcher with just over 9. Green really rode is top 4 this game - clearly doesn't trust rookies although in this game can't say I disagree with the minutes allocation there.

Quinn Hughes is a superstar folks...........and he's ours..........all ours.

He doesn't trust rookies, yet I think we forget that Hughes is a rookie LOL

Stecher is defensive role guy, right? In heavy hockey he’s just too light to be effective defensively. Plus, he provides no meanness. I love Stecher, but he physically is not able to play the role Myers does.
If that is all such a factor, then why does it not bear out on actual on ice results? Even putting aside the bad penalties, Stecher had a way better xGF% and CF% than Myers over the course of the series. The minutes he played tonight weren’t soft tonight either

Was it just me or did Sutter have his best game as a Canuck?

Also nice to see Horvat step up and the team rallying around and bailing Marky out after he let in a few soft goals. God knows how many times he's bailed the team out during the reg season...

Feels nice to have playoff hockey back in Vancouver, it's been too long. The city and fans deserve it:nod:

Benning is a bad GM. This stands apart from my assessment of Myers in this series. Is it possible to carry those two opinions in your world view?

If it is, then take orcatown’s report as the baseline. In it, he describes the positives of Myers’ ability to recover and his toughness in front of the net. These traits go hand in hand with errors and penalties. Do you see how closely they are related?
A miscalculation requires a recovery. Clearing the net with stupid aggression can yield a penalty.

Next, Myers is known as _only_ a top4 dman with a very small margin for error. It is not a stretch at all to say he dipped below that bar due to being overly aggressive. Is it?

There are some posters that will choose to attack the poster and not the post. I would urge you to reconsider. Those posters have a reputation on here and tend not to be taken seriously anymore simply because they cannot address an argument effectively. You don’t have to go that route to make your point, regardless of whether you and I agree on Benning.

Some thoughts:

Gotta give credit where it's due. The boys held MIN to 3 goals at 5-on-5 this whole series which is impressive.

After struggling at 5v5 in Game 3, it was good to see the top line have a strong showing with an absolutely dominant night in terms of driving play. I thought they really set the tone for the rest of the team, which was key in helping establish possession whenever momentum was turning against us and Minny were starting to put us back on our heels. If the coaches want to go anywhere in the playoffs it's in their best interest to play EP as much as possible - whether it's early, mid or late-game regardless of score. He was our best forward at 5v5 this series which should not be surprising. Even when he wasn't producing I noticed him making a lot of little smart plays to support his teammates or get the puck moving in the right direction. I firmly believe he's already capable of going head to head against any 1C in these playoffs and saw off that match-up if needed.

Markstrom was uncharacteristically shaky in this one - probably cos of the back-to-back - but the team helped him out. After his carrying them all season long it was nice to see them return the favour with some goal support.

I did notice Green swapping MacEwen in for Eriksson at certain moments. Both goals from Horvat's line were generated while Big Mac was on the ice. Perhaps he'll keep elevating him to the 2nd line on occasion to see what he can do offensively - like after a PK for instance?

Horvat came up big today as well, not only on the scoreboard but in driving puck possession. Still think they should get Gaudette back into the lineup as well.

From looking over shift charts at Natural Stat Trick, Green really shortened the bench in the 3rd period when we were chasing the tie which isn't anything unusual. I'll be curious to see what he does when we're leading however, which will be the real tell. May be cause for a lot of nail-biting if the regular season is any indication...

As for Hughes, what else needs to be said? He's damn good, he's only 20 and he's already a one-man breakout machine! Thought we looked our best tonight when he was on the ice and Green seemed to think so too with him giving Huggy all the minutes he could handle.

Thought Stecher should've played more than merely 9:52. Guy absolutely crushed it in his minutes tonight and seriously needs to play more. Meanwhile Myers - who HAS to be more disciplined going forward - gets 24:06? There has to be better distribution of ice time there at ES. It didn't help that his partner is a raw rookie whose defense is still a major question mark, so it's not surprising that Juolevi played just over 6 minutes. While he can make some plays in the offensive zone, there's a reason he needs to be sheltered heavily.

Also, with Green opting for OJ instead of Benn on the 3rd pairing in an important game... what does this mean for the latter going forward?

I’m kind of stunned at the rise of Juolevi. Just a month or so ago ago I thought he was going to have to prove himself some more before maybe getting called up if his skating continued to improve after injury. Now I think he could be the no. 6 dman given how positive the organisation has been about him and in his very limited time didn’t look too bad though was clearly sheltered for a reason. A couple of great passes too, that look off pass to Petey was top shelf offence-generating stuff. I am dying to know if Fantenberg was hurt or the coaching staff just made a ballsy call.

lmao

Cmon now

I’m happy we won but we got lucky to get past the wild of all teams, a team who quite literally is the definition of mediocrity.

Hope Bill Guerin is up to the challenge
