They are paid millions of dollars to perform for NHL teams.

I doubt Canadians/USA players would rock the boat with their livelihood on the line.

Russian's don't give a sh#$t cause they have the KHL.

I think people put too much stock into this national pride stuff.

I think these NHL players care way more about their Six figure salaries.

How many USA players really played their guts out ? Maybe a handful ?

Now how many looked like they just didn't want to get hurt ?

A good portion if you ask me. Same goes for Canada.

I think you greatly underestimate how the rest of the world feels about international tournaments of any sort. Check out the Finnish reaction for bronze.

And while I tend to agree many North American players would just 'go with it', but they sure wouldn't be happy about it. Like I said, I don't know how I personally feel about it, but I sure see both sides of the argument. Owners want to protect their investments from injury, but it's short-sighted to not want to grow their product internationally.

:(
Man, haven't gotten to watch it. Don't know when I will. Showed up to work @ 10 this morning (so driving in while game ended) to "Man did you see team USA...."
Obviously from someone who doesn't watch hockey either...
Can't believe we dropped bronze 5-0.
gotta be honest in a twisted kind of way I was hoping we sat Quick and that was Millers game.
Oh well, not like I waited 4 years for team America redemption.
Fortunately I'm gonna go play tomorrow, and maybe I will be successful.

I haven't been this disappointed in the over hyped American Olympians since Dan vs. Dave

Nonsense.

These guys were giving it everything they got! Guys were blocking shot left and right. Playing with injuries. Callahan blocked Doughty's shot and then went over and blocked Shea freakin Weber's shot.

They care!

As for the bronze medal game. I don't blame them for not caring as much. It's not the championship!

I look at it the same way a Stanley Cup contender does. You either win the cup or you fail. While a team like Finland is much like your up and coming team trying to crack the playoffs. They know they probably won't win the cup. But, their goal is to make the playoffs. So, it's a big deal for them. But, for teams like the Blackhawks, Bruins, Kings (aka Canada, Russia, United States)... It doesn't matter.

Congrats Canada! Seriously who's gonna beat this team! Noooooo-one! Especially not Sweden! Half their top guys are out! I bet backstrom was like uuuuuummm yeah we ain't scoring on that defense I'm done see ya in the states!

Man I love Babcock. A lot of people questions his decision making but he just wins

C'mon now you and I can coach this team and we'd still win! If they send Nhl players again in '18.....Canada will win it again! Such a sick defense!

Wow. That was such a clinic. Full domination. I wish Zets, Sedin and Backstrom were healthy. The gold would have been much shinier

I wish all the players were healthy. Stamkos and Tavares in the finals would've been glorious.

Canada was just too good. Russia went out early. Finland and Sweden were too injured. The US had to play Canada before the gold medal game. Slovakia was a mess. Ultimately, probably an underwhelming tournament as a whole, although it had a few moments.

Yup, outside of a few games, it was a pretty disappointing tournament. Canada is just far to skilled on defense, it's what separates them from everyone else
