we should be worrying about him this year
and so far he's been good

Pray to yourself management does not run the team the same way. That's how you get into decades of trash teams... not even throwing stones in glass houses here Nonis and Burke were the same. Remember Clarksons deal? What did he say when asked about year 7 again? Oh yeah... it was close to the bolded...

Unless you think that the OP is Chiarelli, I don't see how you think the Oilers want to trade him.
I have no clue whether Chiarelli wants to trade him, but if they do now would be the right time. Personally, I think they would be wise to trade him, if they can.

Only time will tell if you are right or if you are wrong.

Everything else is just talking out of one's ass.

Clarkson sucked from day 1

Lucic had a good year last year and so far a good season this year

poor comparison

I watched pre-lucic years and post-lucic years. I know Chiarelli added a few other players but the difference is night and day. The Oilers are no longer the leagues punching bag and it is very obvious that he has a lot to do with that.

Plus the guy puts up 50-60 points. The Oilers would have to be idiots to trade him.

For all the flack Lucic takes, there aren't any really great options within the organization to replace him if he gets moved.

I mean if Edmonton were wanting to trade him, and he would waive for a city that he has, I believe, expressed interest in not moving to, then Vancouver should be interested.

Something tells me both conditions are not met. 6 million isn't bad pay for what he does now, and in fact you could argue it is a good deal, and everyone is simply assuming he will not be worth it closer to the end of the contract and we have nothing that can confirm that at this stage.

Where did you get your information that he doesn't want to play in the East, my understanding of the final 3 when he was settling on a location were Edmonton, Vancouver, and Montreal. Edmonton was the winner primarily cause of the McDavid factor & his connection to Chia. While playing closer to home for him is a bonus, he always seemed to say the two biggest reasons were McDavid and Chia.
UH, Montreal, nor any Eastern city, isn't a consideration, because WHO traded him to LA? chiarelli

Lucic is a former teammate of chara and he wasn't on the ice. So..

Lucic actively avoids fighting heavyweights, this is not new. Sure he will run his mouth and give cheapshots, but any time a heavyweight wants to confront him back on his intimidator routine suddenly it's not worth it for Lucic to fight

Assistant Captain, on pace for another 50-55 point season, 9th in the NHL in hits
, 7th in fights

Yeah, Oilers better trade that guy

That old, slow, useless cap dump has 10 points, is + 2, and has 40 PIM in 14 games since Nov 1.

Extrapolated over 82 games, that's 59 points, + 12, and 234 PIM - or one of the best power forward seasons in recent memory.

Weirdly timed, OP. Weirdly. Timed.
You guys should definitely keep him then!

Chara just put McDavid in his place last game and Maroon very meekly asked him to be nicer.

I thought we were talking about Lucic and not Maroon? If you call that "putting him his place" then I'm not sure what you would call truly putting someone in their place. McDavid was still buzzing almost all game. Yeah, he sure put McDavid off his game and put him 'in his place' -- oh yes indeed (note the sarcasm; since I probably have to point that out for you). What IS McDavid's 'place', anyway?

I’m fine with the slow, 50 point winger that keeps opposing players honest. He hasn’t really declined that much, he’s always been slow from what I remember of his Boston days. I fully expect his last 2 years of his contract to be pretty bad though but we need him right now.

yes...lets rehash the same played out narrative on Lucic that some Toronto media fanboy flooded the airwaves with the second he signed in (not Toronto).

He's the meanest powerforward of this era.

I'd take him on Vancouver in a heartbeat. Let him play with/protect the Sedins for a couple years.
