I do wonder if Stan Fischler still thinks that Jason Robertson is better than McDavid? Hopefully Connor has another gear and he can settle this heated debate once and for all. As of now lets just call it a draw and hope for better.

Fischler as you know is an avowed Oiler hater along with his buddy down the turnpike Wyshinski. Those two airbags are among the worst hockey journalists I’ve ever read.

So who do we grab?

To me Karlsson is still the best option, but maybe they are worried about trading Barrie and messing with the PP chem/room chem, making them hesitant to pull the trigger. I don't care.

Norris Level D needs to be swung for Ken. Pay the cost.

Broberg - Karlsson
Nurse - Bouchard
Kulak - Ceci
Desharnais

Pretty sure the issue is about retention and not assets.

You guys do realize that:

1. The Oilers win tonight.
2. Goaltending had almost no impact on the game.

Yet you guys are beating each other up on this goalie debate?
You do realize that this poster was going to bring up his hatred for Skinner, if you know him well enough. I just made that One post on the issue, hoping he was going to knock it off tonight, no debating for me whatsoever! Go back and look at how many posts, with other members, this poster is debating this silly matter with

The penalty shot was nasty. Has McDavid been scoring in the shootout?

I always turn the game off as soon as it gets to that point.

Not to worry, I'm pretty sure Karlsson will replace Barrie just fine on the PP

I know a lot of the people in here hate these early starts. Living in Europe these are the only games I don't have to get up at 4am to watch them live. I welcome them with open arms.
I am a morning person so I don't mind the morning games either but it is interesting

The most important stat in there is wins
Ones below 500 the other isnt?
Ones got 4 wins this year against playoff teams
No, it's really not. That's like saying a pitcher who is 10-10 with a 1.79 era is worse than a pitcher who is 12-8 with a 4.50 era. just because the team around the guy with 4.50 era gave him more run support when he was pitching, doesn't make him better pitcher.

Hockey, like baseball, is a team game. And just because the Oilers have given Campbell more "run support" does not make him a better goalie.

Ugghh I'd rather face LA than almost any of the Central Division wild card matchups if we get 1st in the division.

Colorado? Minnesota? Winnipeg?
ugggghh. Unless we're 100% facing either Calgary or Seattle, I'd prefer we faced LA in the 1st round again.

This Skinner-Campbell debate is only one-sided for me (if you know what I mean lol) so it’s kind of interesting to see just the rebuttals to these seemingly very specious arguments.

Very very impressed with Foegle in the last little bit.
I was just going to add this. Lost a bit in the big dominant win, that pass from Draisaitl on the 2 on 1 to Foegele was just incredible.

Everything looked like he was pulling it to shoot and made that sublime pass infront of the defenders front foot right on the tape to Foegele who had an easy snipe. Like, what a pass.

I think a certain someone's gf or wife has an ex that looks just like Skinner

Petry isn’t coming back here. He wanted out last time he was here on top of that he wants to be in the USA . Gavrikov also doesn’t want to play in Canada . This is below Chia level of GM ing
He only wanted out last time because MacT forced a one year show me deal. And for some unknown reason Eakins healthy scratched him the first game of the season.

If we had just signed the 4 year deal he asked for he never would have asked out. Of course if he doesn’t leave that deadline we may not have fallen far enough to win McDavid so….

Well the debacle that occured here in Montreal was that Petrys wife and 4 kids were living in Michigan, and (one was a newborn), and the border was difficult to cross last year.

It wasn't all that dissimilar to why Duncan Keith wanted to move to Alberta.

It didn't help that the Montreal hooligans went after Petry's wife and were incredibly hostile, and dogpiled on her any chance they could.

Her time in Montreal was well documented on her social media:

So no.. Petry won't come back to Edmonton for the same reasons he wanted to leave Montreal.

The reality is this team is built so we need okish-average goaltending,
Anything that not strait up bad give us a good shot at winning.

Both goalie can provide that on most night so its really a non issue.
What we don't need is a goalie that either light out of a garbage truck.
Aka the Mike Smith fiasco (22 goal in 4 games) of the last year 3rd round and were gonna be ok.

Well sure but you can't deny that messing with the number 1 PP in the last several years isn't a concern. Barrie for all of his flaws fits nicely on this team. I believe Karlsson would make our offence better but maybe it shouldn't be our first priority either. And there is no doubt that Barrie would be the guy that is included in any package for Karlsson. There is definitely risk trading for Karlsson and upsetting what is working right now.
