I love Lucic but he looked like Ryan Reaves against San Jose.

The Kings have 6 D already under contract. Ouch.

Doughty, Muzzin, McNabb, Greene, Scuderi, and Martinez.

Forbort is eligible for waivers and all this talk about Gravel? That would leave the Kings with 8 D. Something that has rarely happened.

i see Dean doing a package deal to move Brown off the books - the removal of the C from him was the beginning. all the talk of "being able to focus on his game and not the captaincy" is a rhetoric.

i think Brown gets moved with Pearson and a low pick. teams will ask for Toffoli, but will get offered Pearson and a pick

So the Kings are going to lose Lucic to free agency and also get rid of Pearson just to relieve themselves of Brown's contract.

I guess we should expect Dwight King and Kyle Clifford to be the top two LW's on the Kings next season!

Scuderi will be buried in the minors. Who knows if Greene will be ready. And Forbort is at that point where he won't be a big loss if claimed off waivers. It is a wasted 1st round pick, just like Keaton Ellerby was.

Kyle Connor
Colin Miller
Martin Jones

Huge pay up. This team will be much worse next year without Lucic. I think people fail to realize how many goals were scored with Lucic screening the goalie . No one else on the team can do it . Lucic made a big difference and now we are losing again. I really wanted Kyle Connor and Colin Miller could replace many pathetic dmen we have.

Dean needs to smoke some weed and think a little bit

Man since the 2014 cup... Dean has made some questionable moves. Take the hit and regroup/restock. I think not signing Lucic is a blessing. Maybe we can get a dman... Get depth back on this team

Yep. Couldn't afford to give Lucic the contract he wanted, and screwed going forward if we did. This is exactly why I hated the Lucic deal last year

I think we are officially going the way of the Bruins.

It's a very thin line between contending and pretending in this league and the moves Dean has made since the cup win have basically all been disasters.

The non buyout of Richards. Luckily we were able to squeeze our way out of most of it because MR was an idiot, but still, just a perplexing move.

Re-signing Greene and Gaborik to 4 and 7 year deals to save cap space (which he wouldn't have needed if he bought out Minus Mike). We are now hoping for LTIR with Greene and Gaborik to be claimed in the expansion draft.

And ofcourse all the assets traded for Lucic and Sekera and the combined 1 playoff win. Lombardi desperately needs to stop the bleeding or he's going to end up like Chiarelli.

I don't mind giving up Jones or Miller. Jones was going to get an offer sheet by San Jose so they had to give him up. Miller is still struggling to establish himself as an NHL player. It's the pick that would've been Connor that didn't sit well with me. I talked myself into liking the deal when it went down, but looking back on it this wouldn't have been the deal I would've done.

The Bruins traded away guys who brought big returns. Who are the Kings going to trade? King? Clifford?

Everything else I agree with though

DL isn't moving him this season. He may have announced that this team is heading in a new direction with stripping him of the C, but I think DL is giving him one more season to see if he's able to regain his points production and presence on the ice... but if DB fails to do so, then he'll send him packing.

and another, and the one after that, and...

I assume Brown will not be protected in the expansion draft, but Vegas is not going to take on his contract (either!)

Can someone plant some oxy on Brown just before he goes to Canada next time? Puhhh-lease!!

Well the Kings could trade Toffoli and Muzzin for similar returns that Boston got for Lucic and Hamilton. Actually more, but Dean is not going to rebuild after giving Kopitar $10m a season.

The Kings are basically in the spot that Dean and everyone here didn't want to be in, a black hole where you aren't really contenders but aren't bad enough to get high picks.

And the Kings have very little in reinforcements on the way because of all the traded picks and the bad picks.

So after 2014, you think they should have sold the farm and started a new rebuild? And what good is drafting high if you just end up like the Oilers?

No. Absolutely not, this is the argument I used to get in with Racoon and others who actually wanted to bring Richards back. Saying goodbye to Mike Richards and Matt Greene was not rebuilding, it was a smart hockey and business decision. Just like getting rid of Stoll in 2012 would have been.

When Voynov was lost in October 2014 and it was apparent that Brown and Richards were completely done the Kings should not have been trading good prospects and 1st rounders for rentals, because they were not a contending team.

If Kings management had thought more like Patriots management after winning championships we would be in a far far better spot right now. We'd have a Kyle Connor who will be a 30 goal scorer very soon, we'd have another pick this weekend to add another piece. Instead we are stuck with our elite 1C-1D-1G core, a few nice complimentary pieces but crap depth at the NHL level and very very little at the development level, both juniors/NCAA and AHL.

If Lucic doesn't sign here, I feel that DL will go hard after Yandle. If that happens, we'll be exposing AMart and McNabb to expansion draft.

I think Martinez could be a top 3 on a few teams, if that situation played out he or Muzzin would be traded to someone who would give up assets and protect either one.

McNabb is nothing, plenty of teams will be exposing much better defenders.

Dean has definitely made some mind boggling deals such as the Mckeown and 1st for Sekera then follows it up with losing Lucic for what would have been our best prospect in the system and probably NHL ready soon. I'm not sure about not signing Lucic. The guy can play, and the entire Kings team looked flat in the playoffs.

Agree. It's the pick that gets me the most but Miller will also stabilize his position on the blue line this year. Jones I always knew had better potential because of how poised and calm he looked in net, but you live and die by Quick

I thought he should have bought out Richards too, but it wasn't failing to buy out Richards that screwed the Kings. The Voynov issue did the single most damage to the team by opening up a huge hole in the top 4 of the D which Dean has failed to plug with his acquisitions since losing Voynov. And how do you call the reigning Stanley Cup Champion at the time a non-contender? Sekera getting hurt a handful of games after being acquired wasn't DL's fault. What if he didn't get hurt? Might have won a couple more games which would have put the Kings in a playoff spot. Then who knows?

And why would you bring up the Patriots?:laugh::laugh::laugh: A team that consistently rapes ****** GMs out of their asets every season. I wish the NHL had more gullible GMs willing to give everything the Kings wanted to them every single season.:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh: And hey, even then the Pats have won how many Super Bowls during this time? 3? 4? Kings are halfway there as is.

hell back on the Patriots...

They had TEN ****ING YEAR GAP between 2004 and 2014 for their championships. Kings last won a championship TWO YEARS AGO. But no.. Why aren't they more like the Pats guys?

The sky is falling! The sky is falling! :scared:

No speed
No depth
Cupboard damn near empty
No cap space
Three franchise pieces that will keep the Kings in the gray area of sports (not good enough to compete, not bad enough to pick early, otherwise known as sports hell)

Things are not looking good for the Kings
