Kings should also trade Kopitar, now that he's team captain his value has increased ten fold.

Didn't they fix the NMC where they can go into effect immediately so players can be Jeff Carter-ed?

If not this is a solid idea. :naughty:

I just see swapping a 31 year old center for a 26 year old one and gaining assets as a good move for the future. Don't worry Stamkos probably won't make it UFA, and even if he does may not select the Kings, who may not be willing to pay him.

Also as much as I'd like Lucic back, and would 100% rather move Brown (which doesn't seem to be happening). I'm starting to think grabbing a center or another D and dealing with Brown in the top 6 might not be so bad. :(

I we were to move Jeff Carter i would have to believe we'd be aiming for a top-4 Dman not picks and prospects, well at least not prospects... I've said maybe Carter+King/Clifford to NYI for Harmonic and a pick but I'm not sure how that works out financially if at all within the salary cap and fill out the roster..

Pearson-Kopitar-Toffoli
Kempe-Stamkos-Gaborik
Brown-Shore-Versteeg
Andreoff-Dowd-Nolan

Doughty-McNabb
Hamonic-Muzzin
Martinez-Gravel

Quick

That lineup pushes us to the cap if not a little over so it doesn't seem financially feasible unless we manage to vanish both Scuderi and Greene's contracts.... and even then its minimal relief...

well the good news is NHL17 is coming out in September so you can make this happen

well hell there goes my budaj plan

Poor Budaj. That tweet is kinda harsh from his prospective.

Dowd/Gravel: Pretty much the cap is going to necessitate both guys being on the roster next year because they're cheap!

Based on priorities and cap limitations, I think Shore/Andreoff/Dowd will be our 3rd and 4th line centers come opening night. Lombardi will probably leave it to the trade deadline to address our need for a more capable 3rd line center like he did last year.

I hope that Lucic is not resigned. I would rather sign a cheaper option like McGinn and keep some cap space open when it gets closer to the trade deadline. Sellers might be willing to trade a solid second pairing defenseman then, and we will need the cap space to make that trade.

Shocker. We let all of our goalies go. At least Quick plays 70 games per season. Enroth wasn't happy with his playing time, correct?

What's Erik Ersberg up to?

You're acting like we had a choice in the matter.
Bernier wasn't going to stay so they had to trade him.
Jones wasn't going to stay and there was a real risk of an offer sheet so they had to trade him.
It just sucks that we have been so devoid of goalies for most of our existence to have within a few year period 3 very good ones.

long way from making that decision...I think they're hopeful that will happen.

Hopeful, but that tweet makes it sound like they're planning on it. We know they have to start getting some production from cheap young guys, no matter who else they would bring in this summer.

Plus Bartosak. He would've been a cheap backup with potential for next season. But, just another thing that went wrong for the Kings in the last few years.

Yeah, stupid Kings for developing NHL level goaltenders. And like Voynov, nobody could have anticipated Bartosak being stupid either.

Per Mayor, both Gravel and Dowd expected in opening night lineup.

Therefore the lineup should be as follows:

Lucic-Kopitar-Gaborik
Pearson-Carter-Toffoli
Brown-Dowd-King
Clifford-Andreoff/Shore-Nolan
Extra:Andreoff/Shore

Doughty-Gravel
Martinez-Muzzin
Greene-Forbort
Extra D: FA Vet D

Quick
Backup Goalie

Since it is really looking with all the reporting that Vegas is a done deal I'll mention what scares me most about them joining the league.
The expansion draft is a worry because we have to make sure we can protect the players that need protecting.
But what is likely our most valuable commodity is in the front office. Mike Futa.
They will need a GM and this GM will truly be able to put their mark on the team. Add in his scouting knowledge for an expansion team and he's got to have a target on his back.
I think we all have the feeling he is being groomed to take over here when DL is done. But will that promise be enough to keep him here is it's true? Or does he choose to go where he can really make his own team?

Oh. ****.

That would be the latest in the long line of things gone wrong

It would almost be like back to the pre-2012 Kings franchise we all know and love

Not to mention to start without the Brown/Richards handicap.

Ilya Bryzgalov is trying to return to the NHL. There might be your candidate for a training camp invite, as the Kings have done in the past with other journeymen backups in Mathieu Garon and Peter Budaj.

A few things...

Forbort is waiver eligible.

Shore, Dowd and Andreoff all play center, so either 2 of those play 3rd and 4th line center and one sits OR they all play and Kings deal Clifford so Andreoff can play 4th line LW.
