Hearing the #LAKings and Milan Lucic have picked up talks again. Nothing imminent. Described as "ongoing."

Didn't expect this, still don't think he comes back, but who knows.

I still think he gets signed.

Pretty obvious the Kings want Lucic back and Lucic wants to come back. Of course it all comes down to the money/term of the contract. Last effort to get something done before free agency. Not really that surprising.

I have a read a few places now that Brown was told his contract is "untradeable". While I understand why it is very hard to move Brown, I wonder how Dean was able to line up trades for Richards at the draft, who in my opinion is worse than Brown now.

Because some Kings fans on HF took the smoke of a possible trade and turned it into "Dean had trades lined up with Calgary and Edmonton but Richards' actions forced him to back out" when defending the contract termination last year.

I'm pretty sure that it was just talk. There is no reason for either of those teams to take Richards without being given massive sweeteners. We're talking pounds of sugar.

It was not just kings fans on HF when the fan 960 (a calgary sports radio station) and Elliott Friedman confirmed that trade talks were progressing.

What was never revealed is what sort of sweetener LA would have had to given up to move Richards, but it was reported the 1st (later sent to Boston) would not have been included

It was reported that Calgary or Edmonton was acquiring Richards + some sweetener and then would buy out Richards.

Maybe Richards had a more buy out friendly deal than Browns? Less years left or something?

It wasn't HF Boards smoke. It was widely reported by legitimate sources.

pretty much. What I have never seen or heard is what LA was giving along with Richards.

Yeah, I dont recall seeing that either. I think some teams that need veteran leadership like Colorado and Calgary, for example, would benefit having Brown on the team, but they would want 50% retained, which is not worth it for us because we can just buy Brown out.

the two clubs you picked I don't think really fit. Calgary will be tight against the cap once they find a goalie and re-sign their RFA's. Colorado has Iginla.

I think Buffalo would make some sense, but at this point Brown's value is the lowest it has ever been.

Tight squeeze with Lucic next year. It can be done, without losing anyone(beyond other UFA's), but only next year. And no additional proven defenseman. If you can get Vegas to take Brown or Gaborik next summer, that would help, but even then, you're talking both Toffoli and Pearson needing to be signed. Plus losing whoever in order to get Vegas to take someone specific.

If Kopitar, Carter, Toffoli, Gaborik, and Pearson are all healthy next year, they should all be able to get 20+ goals. Pearson hasn't proven it, Gaborik has to be available, and Kopitar needs to keep shooting, but the talent is there. Doughty, Muzzin, Martinez, all capable of hitting double digits from the blue line.

It can be Lucic, and see what the cheap young guys can do, until next summer when everything gets more complicated. It can be Lucic, but getting rid of Gaborik(or Brown) now, lose the sweetener, get another defenseman, and see what the cheap young guys can do. It can be no Lucic, get a defenseman, and see what the cheap young guys can do. Scuderi can be sent to the minors for a small cap hit, but that doesn't help until the season starts. King and/or Clifford can be dealt to open up space, but that extra space can disappear quickly. Or, some weird curveball like trading Toffoli or Pearson could be thrown in there.

Things can be done, but plenty of roadblocks everywhere.

LOL, sorry, I haven't been to the other threads.

no worries it is a funny skit, I like people making fools of themselves. The only thing I question is that the jerseys and hats look like they were just provided by the TV show.

I think Dean felt that maybe he was closer with a Lucic contract so he didnt rush it . They should get something done pretty quickly. While he was lashin out other things

Signing Lucic is going to be a big mistake unless its less than 4 years, which wont happen, or at least without a no movement/no trade clause. I think Lucic will be fine for another year or two, but I can see him nose diving like Brown. Also, we really do not need another long term contract on our books.

Ideally, I would like the Kings to spend the next two years doing a mini-rebuild instead of trying to be competitive again immediately by signing guys like Lucic. Unfortunately, the fact that Sutter is back means that Lombardi will be going all in again this year.

If I am Lucic I want the guarantee of of expansion protection. 4 years with NMC at 5.5 would be a huge win for LA IMO
