Yeah, I don't believe you can be actually FLUENT in any language unless you actually lived there and had to get around in every day life speaking said language; but he may be fluent, who knows?

I live in Warsaw and nearly ever person under 35 is fluent in English without most of them having ever been to an English speaking country.

So yes, it's possible.

Gorton, like many of us ( well I did ) didn't want to commit to Hayes because of Andersson and the hope that Chytil could fill the 2C role. Andersson should be given a long look but we don't have top6 forwards at the moment lol.

Eh, I think it was more the terms that scared most people.

The problem with NMCs and whatnot is that if any of the kids came along, it would be difficult to move Hayes. And in the Rangers case, they would have two centers, who were seen as second line centers, locked up to multi-year deals with movement clauses.

This has been so frustrating so far.

I'm not saying #FireGorton or that we did anything wrong, but this rebuild just can't get a break so far.

2014 SCF of rebuilds.
Hughes or Kakko will be a Ranger

If the Jets can get their Franchise QB... The Rangers can get their franchise player

No. I was talking about the mythical fact that he speaks fluent Russian and thus is attractive to all potential Russians who might come to the NHL.

Sure, he's a fine leader, but as we've shown time and time again, that is no reason to keep a player. I think the legend of Messier has fried so many people's brains around here when it comes to valuing leadership qualities.

Completely agreed (although Mess' attraction was much different). I'm not close minded to us trading Kreider, but he has a lot of pros to keeping him (unlike the Stepan/Callahan/McDonagh/Brassard/Zuccarello situations where most of us felt these players were approaching the downturn of their careers).

It's been 2 drafts going on 3.

We couldn't land Petterson. Got Kravstov. We'll see what 2019 brings. We have been targeting the right players...

They formally stated they were rebuilding last TDL. Either way, it doesn't work this fast.

It's actually awesome that PatMohmesIsGod put it into words.

Years ago that little tidbit started up and it has persisted since and grown to be a talking point despite being pretty apocryphal.

It's like watching a snopes article in real time.

Isn't Larry "Hayes is a linchpin" Brooks the same one who wrote that article about how we have a glut of centers?

Must have been Dallas. Found Zuccha crying and already missing Hank. That would certainly increase chances that Dallas moved through 2 rounds.
Actually, I would really guess Carolina. He kills them and really would catapult them into being "relevant".
C'mon Hank......move on with your life. Everything is big in Dallas, cigars, cars, money, jets.......would really help us here moving forward. #nomoretears

I can agree with that. I honestly won't feel disappointed either way, unless we sell him for like a 2nd and a conditional 4th.

I actually think Kreider has his best years ahead of him, but I'd move him for a good, youthful package because I feel it fits the rebuild timeline better. Unlike the other guys you mentioned, though, it won't be a complete loss if we keep him.
