Cool. Now Bill has to find the hockey equivalent of Karl Malone (and cut Keller's hair).
figure out a trade for Quinton Byfield (6'5 225#) and turn him into a 40G player...that would be *awesome* :naughty:

While standing on skates, the pair would even be the same heights as Stockton and Malone.

(it gets better - I never knew this - from his wiki entry: "In 1996, (Stockton) agreed to a deal that made salary-cap space available so the team could improve, but in exchange, he insisted on guaranteed Delta Center ice time for his son's hockey team." )

He’s likely simply unavailable for any reasonable price that Colorado could pay. He’s likely going to be a large part of our plans going forward, provided his play doesn’t fall off a cliff. It would take a lot for anyone to pry him off our hands. I don’t know enough about Colorado’s situation to even make an offer for what to ask for in a package involving Kesselring, but because of a variety of factors he’d be pretty expensive for anyone to try to take from us. The long story short is basically that he’s the kind of player we want to keep and build around having. Utah and Colorado probably just aren’t that great of trading partners at the moment with our respective goals, except maybe closer to deadline day.

Some discussion on the Jets board regarding Crouse.

Curious what mammoth fans think is a fair value?

I don’t value him very highly because of his play this season and his contract might be on the trickier side to trade given the term left on it. I even made a thread about him on the trade board. When he’s on his game, he’s a serviceable middle six winger who can bring a lot of physicality, though he’s not much of any of that right now. He did reach 9 goals on the season a couple games ago, but he’s capable of more than that. We’re at the stage where we’re trying to turn the corner and get into the playoffs (maybe this year, and not making it next year would be pretty bad for the trajectory we’re supposed to be on).

That said I don’t really watch much of anyone except Utah or Tampa Bay so I don’t know what I’d be interested in from Winnipeg. Ideally perhaps a guy in a similar boat as Crouse who may just need a change of scenery to turn things around. Or perhaps someone younger than him who shows about the same promise and soon, but may be a little too down the depth chart in Winnipeg to get much (if any) ice time with the big club. That’s what I can think of myself, if you have anyone available who matches either of those situations. I’m also not very good at trade proposals, so I’m not exactly the resident expert, but that’s what comes to mind for me personally (e.g. if there’s no one like that on a similar contract to Crouse I wouldn’t really have the first idea about how to make a proposal that adds retention and/or draft picks to the deal in order to make it enticing for both teams).

Lambert.

Keller Cooley Schmaltz
Maccelli Hayton Guenther
McBain Lambert Doan
Kerfoot Stenlund But

If not Lambert, then maybe Kieron Walton + 2nd.

With UHC being in the thick of the playoff race it is risky trading Crouse now. Almost have to get a roster player back, I think. Trouble is with Crouse's production this year his value is questionable.

He appears to have finally woken up and stopped sleepwalking after a 15mo slumber. He’s been playing with pace and snarl since the 4 Nations. I’d prefer to hang onto him to see if he can continue to play like 2023 Crouse. If he can, he’s too valuable to trade. Especially now with his trade value at its lowest point ever.

Do you think Lambert will play C in the NHL?

Lambert is a big price to pay. If trading him I would be looking for a better player than Crouse.

Scary to consider trading Walton atm. Quality ask though.

Yes, Crouse has been playing much better the past 6 or so games. Still, that long slump is concerning and why the trading for him is so risky.

And if he returns to form then UHC should be keeping him.

And I do not see Lambert as a C.

I want to move Maccelli and see what Crouse looks like next season. Size and recent play gives Crouse the edge over Maccelli and I'd rather try to avoid selling low on both players.

Think we could get a 2nd for Maccelli? If so I'd take it. Might rather get the pick and use FA/offseason to replace him than take on another team's reclamation project.
