Hi everyone,

Penguins fan coming in to ask about Vladislav Kolyachonok. I have never really watched him play outside of a couple YouTube goal highlights. Can anyone give a pros/cons scouting report on him and if you think he still has some potential to develop? I see that he's only 23 still.

From today's practice......

@Mosby said it better than I could in the thread announcing he was being placed on waivers:

He has been overtaken in Utah by other players and lost his spot in the depth chart. Will be even lower next year with return of Durzi and guys like Duda and Lamoureux pushing for minutes.

I like that he can play both sides but his decision making holds him back. Not enough offense to be more than a bottom pair guy.

-extend Maatta and Kerfoot
-trade Crouse and Kesselring for Cozens
-thank Carcone, Bjugstad and Valimaki for their service

McBain Cooley Guenther
Keller Cozens Schmaltz
Maccelli Hayton Doan
Kerfoot Stenlund But

Sergachev Marino
Simashev Durzi
Maatta Lamoureux

-plan to move But and Iginla into bigger roles when possible then the rebuild is really complete
I like it. Hopefully Maccelli can get back on track a bit and I’d look to flip him if he can revive his value somewhat. Also, in that scenario, I’d look to draft blueliner at our spot around 12th overall. With such young Cs on the roster and all of the top 2025 C’s likely off the board, shoring up the defense would be good.

Rumors have BA willing to make a TDL deal if the right player(s) are available regardless of our playoff outlook. As long as it helps the team in the future. Playoff bound or not, he's looking.

Ya never know!

The reality at the TDL is that you either give up future assets to make the team better for a playoff push now, or you sell off pending UFAs that can help somebody else now for future assets. Unless we loose the next handful of games and are 8 points or more out, I don't see us doing anything substantial.

You've described the typical TDL activity. But there's no reason why a Cozens/Kesselring/Crouse style trade can't happen in-season. Both teams are on the outside and might want to give their new guys a chance to find their place in the lineup before making a more serious push in the standings next season.

I think it's too late to make the playoffs

Let's consider our predicament. We are only 6 pts points out, but that's somewhat deceptive. To secure the final playoff spot based on current standings, the Clubbers will need 94 pts, or 37 points over our final 26 games, capturing 71% of the points available. Possible, but not easy. You're talking no more than 5-7 losses depending on how many loser pts we acquire.

We would be the best team in the NHL during that stretch to make it in at a 71% clip, so we would be on fire entering the playoffs. I hope it happens it just is highlt u likely, last I checked our odds to make it in were under 20%.

That is a summer time trade, the market for all of those players will be much bigger then at the TDL, both GMs will wait until then to find the best deals.

I agree with you but way to screw up entry into a new market. Yes the injuries suck but this is a bissiness.

Hopefully can do something to so faith in the team we have now.
