Let's go through em

Stepan trade - Win
Grabner trade - Win
Nash trade - Win
McDonagh trade - Even, maybe a very slight loss
Zuccarello trade - Even, with potential to be a win

Underwhelmed how?

Grabner and Nash were wins. We will see how deAngelo plays out but I'm really down on Anderson.

McDonagh/Miller was terrible. Maybe we'll be rescued by Tampa winning the cup but that condition should've been lower.

As I've said, people will be all gung ho because the trade language says we could get two firsts for Zucc. It won't happen. Hard to imagine getting one.

Its not like we sent him to Tampa where we know for sure they are going to the SCF. If Dallas misses the playoffs they could very well end up with a pick in the 40-45 range with how close the west is.
And Dallas’ ownership is really pushing for the team to contend, I think Zucc resigning there is going to come down to if Zuccarello wants to stay there, not if the Stars want to keep their first

Everyone said the ask was a second and a prospect for the past week. So we got the second, and a third instead of the prospect, with some conditions that could pay off.

Would people be excited if it was a second and a prospect that’s equivalent to like Ryan Lindgren? I don’t really see the big deal in being mad at this.

You know why this isn't a bad trade? There is a chance Dallas doesn't even make the playoffs. A high second isn't that much different than a late 1st.

Its not like he is going to Tampa or Winnipeg where their 2nd will be in the 56+ range.
Unless they collapse it will be in the 42-45 range, so not a high 2nd, a mid 2nd.

We're talking about the Rangers here.

Dallas will win 20 games in a row and finish first in the Western Conference and will lose in the first round and then Zuccarello will sign with the Islanders.

Oh yes, very silly of me.

@Hire Sather was Zibanejad for Brassard underwhelming too?

Loved the deal at the time. A lot actually because Z had been one of my favorite players in the league as a Senator.

I consider that a hockey trade, so that doesn't go into my point of "sell off trades" being underwhelming.

Either way, fair play.. that was a tremendous deal.

What is that limit. There is like what, 20% of the season left. That means Zucc is owed less than 1M...of which 30% is 300k. What is the problem?
It’s three contracts at any given time. And they’re now retaining on two.
The money is no matter. As far as I know.

My negative view of this deal relates to the underwhelming return, the obvious window dressing conditions which are patronizing and the fact that Gorton didn't wait longer. If this trade was made an hour before the deadline we would all have been satisfied that the return was at its max but there is still 2 days left and he accepted this trade. What's the rush for less than what Eric Staal returned

Man you're even wrong about which player obsessed guy is leaving the board

Webster= Wolfy, Zucc fanboy

Theflyingpuck=Whiskers, Stepan fan boy who had legit info.

I did believe Whiskers and Webster were the same and have this whole time.. lol

He without a doubt had real info. In fact the info started with Zucc being injured in the playoffs and the guy nailing everything about it... which is why I've always connected him to Zuccarello.

If Webster comes back here snapping his usual arrogant, selfpitiful BS - he deals with me. I told him clearly that enough is enough. His Golden Child is now gone. So is he...
I actually held Zucc in the highest regard as a player, warrior and person already since Modo years, a fantastic and truly unique New York Ranger so to speak. The Zuccettes otoh drove me madder than blowfish venom tho

If all the sell off trades are underwhelming to you, maybe your barometer is off?
