Their owner wants to win. Zucc could very well resign in Dallas. Step away from the ledge people. I’m not surprised considering probably the same group expected Sergachev+++ last year.

Yeah, could be BS, but I read how Dallas has been high on Zucc for a while. For all we know they intend on re-signing him. Otherwise they gave up a 2nd and a 3rd for as little as 6 weeks of control. If you are a Dallas fan what's so great about that?

They must’ve really not liked their prospects, so better to have picks then reclamation projects. Maybe best realistic case is that Dalles missed the playoffs so that 2nd is the middle of the round, but Zucc plays really well and resigns (another no income tax state) and get a likely middle round 1st in 2020. Groton seems to be playing the long game so initially this underwhelming return could be really solid.

I mean, look, right now I'm like "why the **** is Dallas even buying" but Im just saying that would be pretty nuts.

It’s interesting. They are barely holding onto a playoff spot and currently hold the 1WC spot. Chicago is making a run now, With the way Anaheim has played since Carlyle has been fired they even have a slight chance, it’s a tight race. But even if they do get into one of those WC spots, they would have to face Winnipeg, Nashville, or Calgary in the first round. Not good odds for that conditional pick.

We’re retaining too. Embarrassing. Too bad we didn’t include Chytil or Kravstov to sweeten the deal. Maybe then we could have made another condition: we get their 7th if Zuke finishes his plate at Lockhart Smokehouse

Retaining what? 30% of a few hundred thousand dollars? It's nothing.

No, I don't think they rejected better offers.

I seem to consistantly be underwhelmed by Gorton's returns on selling players, though.

Maybe we can trade Hayes to Colorado with the condition of getting Ottawa's 1st if they go 16-0 in the playoffs

The idea is that retaining salary should increase the return.
There is the potential for a UFA, who it looks like we have had no intention of resigning, to become two 1st rounders. That's not adding to the return? I'll take as many shots of adding 1st round picks during this rebuild, that we can.

Signs that he is not very good at his job.

Honka is terrible
Nischukin has 0 goals in 42 games, I'm not making that up.
Faksa/Hanzal isnt traded bc playoff teams dont trade roster C's
they have like 3 decent prospects in the whole org and they kinda need those going forward

ppl are nutso. when trade forecasting think about the other team a LITTLE cmon
