I've lost all passion but still sort of watch.

There is not one player on this team I care about or wouldnt trade

How can we be worse than arizona? A desert team who couldnt find a buyer forever.

If they play some of the rookies Ill pay attention but this group is gross. Look at our cap spending as well lol

Burke and nonis absolutely killed us

I actually think Arizona is a better team than us. Better defense including a true #1 Dman and young studs in the lineup with Domi and Duclair.

We have some bad contracts but the Phaneuf contract is terrible and will be anchor on this team for years to come.

Man, how much i hated that contract. Can we plz stop giving long term deals to non-elite/non-core players ? thank you very much

I still watch because the franchise is taking the direction I want it to. We're getting the through the draft rebuild we asked for. So yeah I'll at least have it on in the background if I'm not doing nothing else.

I like the Tank Thread as a "I hope the Leafs do badly this year so we can get a high draft pick and do better in the future" discussion.

I do not like the Tank Thread as "I hate the Leafs and I hope they're bad forever" discussion.

Boring automatons. I think a big part of the problem, stating which will get me attacked in this forum, is every Leaf has to stick up for himself. That means if a Leaf throws hard hits or plays with in-your-face-passion, he will have to answer the bell alone when he gets challenged by an opposition tough guy. So, to save face and avoid confrontation, Leafs play pre-programmed soft no-touch hockey - which lucky for them Babcock happens to prefer.

The tank I love. But damn it's boring. The losing I can take and understand the reason for. Entertainment? Not one iota of fun, excitement, or controversy. At least when we were super-bad before, we had someone like John Kordic to lose it for our viewing pleasure. Would it hurt to inject some unpredictable energy and emotion into this wet mop of a team?

Not one fan wants them to be bad forever

I knew the Leafs wouldn't be very good but they look terrible to me. Maybe it takes some time to get use to Babcock. Oh well Babs is making some good coin so good for him and his family. :) No idea why he picked Toronto as his next gig other than dollar signs.

It's not hard to see why even besides the dollar figure.

The most important thing is definitely the $$ but Buffalo offered even more (he said one team offered even more money).

He is the first coach in the last 6-7 years that has actually been given time. He signed an 8 year deal and the management used the word patience a billion times over the offseason. With Ron Wilson/Carlyle we were still just trying to make the playoffs and add to our broken roster.

Babcock with his 8 year deal has at least 2 years after this one before he will be criticized for not producing results but by then we will have successfully finished in the bottom 10 (likely bottom 5) for four consecutive years.

Marner/Nylander/2016/17 picks should form our core. If we screw that up and get hasty, we really have no hope at all to win the Cup for a long time.

I have a bad feeling it's going to get even wose :shakehead

If we were still saddled with Clarkson's contract that would suck so epicly bad.

Imagine if we ended up picking 4th even after finishing last? :biglaugh:
That's exactly the reason why I'm hesitant wanting to see the Leafs lose. I do agree that winning meaningless less games won't help them in the future and if they lost a few more times last season, maybe they end up with McDavid and not Marner. However since finishing last does not guarantee at least 2nd overall pick, it takes out the comfort of knowing where their 1st round pick will end up if they finished 30th overall.

I am so apathetic towards this team right now. I am not going to lie. I missed the Habs game and watched maybe 5 minutes of the Wings game.

Other then Rielly, I can't stand any of them.

It absolutely blows me away how they still manages to sell out home games!:shakehead:shakehead:shakehead:shakehead

Not this (upcoming) draft year; the first three draft positions are selected by the lottery system.

Wow. The nhl cant stop changing the rules. Obviously this has done nothing to teams who want to tank. They'll just take their chances.

And of course the year we rebuild we get screwed by the rule

I don't know if I should call this a new low or a new high. I knew the Leafs were going to be bad this year but already 2 games in and we got a tank thread.

I haven't done calculated the probability because I don't know the odds but the odds of us picking 4th after finishing last should be very small. If you finish last, you're more than likely picking 2nd or 3rd.

Wait so by some freak of odds the teams pickings 1st 2nd 3rd could be the 14th, 13th, and 15th placed teams?

15th placed team will probably be in the playoffs, unless there's some weird point division between the conferences.

But yes, picks 1, 2, and 3 could go to the non-playoff teams with the best records. Chance is less than 1 in 100,000.

This team is gonna be bad because the talent is just not there. I hope we stink up the joint, I hope they trade every player not named Reilly and gather as many picks and prospects as possible. Hopefully with any luck and lord knows the TML deserve some, we land Matthews. As i have said in prebious threads i would seriously contemplate offering Zonia Matthews if it meant we got Strome and their first rounder in 2016.

If you had Eichel would you trade that away for Strome and another top five prospect? Not bloody likely.

Yes. Yes I would. Arizona could draft as high as 2, and the second overall - likely Chychrun - could end up being better than Matthews anyways. I'm also just not a fan of the idea Matthews could possibly run home to poay hero. I'd rather pick up a 1D like Chychurn and another top6 like Strome
