if only we could hire babcock next year and add matthews or chychrun...without babs we're almost lock to be worst in league

matthews is just a tad below mcdavid/eichel as a prospect imo, and chychrun really looks like a elite D...how good would a rebuild look starting with 1 of these

Matthews isn't even below Eichel as a prospect at all. He is a surefire franchise superstar.

NJ wins in OT. Now tied with the Leafs at a 1-3-1 record.

NJ can barely score to save their lives. Defensively they are good and their goaltending is solid. They aren't going to win many games though if giving up 2 goals = loss.

Bernier and Reimer both are helping Tank Nation. I think the tank could be great this year.

At least we're watchable this year while tanking. Last year was brutal

I am cheering for wins because I know how hard they are going to come by this season. Watching these guys play so hard and well is entertaining. It would be almost sadistic to cheer goals against when they are buying into Babcock so well and they aren't going to win much so no need to hope, it's going to happen (top 10 pick). At the end of the season we are going to to have at least 2 first rounders and at the trade deadline, hopefully we add a lot of picks. Trading some short contracts maybe even Phaneuf, Bozak and Lupul will get us even more if they keep playing well. After that they will probably bottom out when the AHL guys come up.

Even if the 1st overall pick is the best case scenario for us, I can't really cheer against the effort they've been giving.

Last year's team I cheered against for reasons that went beyond wanting a good draft pick. Towards the end it actually became morbidly satisfying to watch them get embarrassed every night.

Not going to bother with the tank race until December, and I imagine these threads will start to pick up steam around then too

Gotta catch me some Swiss hockey games and watch Matthews play

stupid babcock, we're playing bad, but not worst team in hockey bad...at the 5th pick now

my gawd we need matthews so bad, hes looking like hes near mcdavid level...if we add matthews to nylander marner kadri jvr rielly gardiner, with solid prospects like kapanen brown etc...the rebuild is over imo, and we can start building and adding FAs and winning

Unlikely with the current state of our defense. I think we'll be in play-off contention for our 2017 season which marks our 100th year in the league.

I still think this team starts picking up some point soon. So far we have been playing pretty good hockey but our goalies have let in some softies, and obviously we have a hard time scoring. But I can't see Bernier continue the whole season letting in goals on the first shot. And Nylander is coming up sooner then later.

I don't want them to lose so much they stop playing as hard as they are, but I don't want them winning nearly enough to take them out of the Matthews race.

Close losses and blowout wins are key. After every loss I want them to feel like they could have won it, so they stay hungry.

Ideally, we never see a streak of more than 3 or 4 wins or losses all season.

Not sure where to put this. But I've been reading TB's forum for a while now and I've noticed that they are seriously down on Stammer for a while now (Dating back to last year). I'm not sure how I'd feel about throwing Brinks trucks at a guy who has appeared to be seriously tapering off the last few years.

I'm wondering how much of it is knowing they may lose him, so they are going to trash him whenever possible.

Especially if he comes here. Everyone outside of Toronto will be spouting off about how he's not an elite player anymore, which is pure bullocks.

I believe Stamkos isn't happy in Tampa Bay, starting with the whole St Louis ordeal, then being moved to the wing, and so on and so forth.

I truly honestly believe he wants to come play for the Maple Leafs.
