Official Francesco Aquilini Thread

aquaman conversation, So petey what you think about the current situation? petey replies.... thinks about it, not happy with the coaching staff. when you gonna fire tg and his assistants so i can play my game?:naughty::thumbu::laugh: or else i want to be traded.

lol, I've always wondered how someone even gets footage like this.

Maybe I'm just way too unobservant to be a creep. I feel like I would have a hard time recognizing players out of context without their gear on.
Even so, I would second doubt myself it's just some look-a-like.

I have it on good authority that this was planned by Francesco. The window to the street , etc .

To deduce this public meeting, let's ask a simple question.

Has Franco ever done this before? No.

Franky wants to meet a player? There is an entire hockey rink, or his office for that.

Don't want a work environment?

Franky has many restaurants with private areas.

This was absolutely staged.

Franky wants fans thinking he is one of us, but reality is, he just wants our money so he has a toy to play with.

All the ingredients for a classic 1930's Casstellammarese war hit. Fredo is Joe "the boss" Masseria and Petey is young Lucky Luciano planning to take over the franchise. You can see that Fredo's main enforcer, Jimbo aka Jet black Jim is missing.

Yes, I can buy the argument that Franky wanted this meeting to be seen. But why exactly? He thinks this makes him look good?

Dear Aquillini

Please sell the team. Buy your seasons tickets and remain a fan from the crowd, but for the love of God, sell the team. You are part of the problem, among with Benning and Green. It's time for a change.

Not sure why this is a big deal, other than it happened in a market where fans are pretty close to insane.

You don’t think it’s a little odd for the owner and struggling star player to have a public sitdown meeting in the middle of perhaps this teams lowest point in the last decade? How often do owners of other teams even interact with their teams players let alone in this sort of scenario?

Honestly I don't...I don't have many good things to say about Aquilini's ownership, but this dinner meeting doesn't concern me in the least. If I were the owner of the Canucks, and the team was in the position it currently sits in, I'd want to know if my struggling star forward needed anything and if there was anything I could do to help him, and to maybe get a sense of what's going on in the dressing room and how they view management and the coaching staff. I'd be willing to bet that Aquilini has (or will have lunch/dinner) with other key players as well. If you are performing an internal audit of your organization I don't think it hurts to ask vital pieces of the organization what their opinions are.

FA should have sent over Dim ( Fat Tony ) to do any dirty work...

You don't see it very often...although it was probably just a social meeting imo...I doubt that they would have a 'cloak and dagger' meeting in a public place.

This really is the crux of the matter. It should be obvious to everyone that Francesco meddles in the affairs of this team on a daily basis.....apparently he talks to Benning every day. What owner or ownership group in the entire NHL does that?

It's obvious the guy knows next to nothing about building a hockey team, but refuses to hire a veteran, proven hockey guy to it. He'd rather prop up the current ship of fools, because none of them would ever tell him to 'take a hike' and let me run this franchise.

Bottom line....he's just the worst kind of owner. The only good news is that the franchise at least isn't operating on a purse string. And he is willing to spend money on player salaries, even if they're mostly bad contracts.

But in terms of ownership, the Canucks are on a treadmill to nowhere. So I have some sympathy for the poster who is obviously a diehard Canucks fan but almost at the end of the rope like everyone else.

So with the idea of house cleaning IF there was felt a need to replace ALL at once.
new blood;
GM - MacFarland (Colorado Asst experienced with their rebuild) and Asst GM - Angela James or Cammi Granato.
Experienced rebuilders
Gordon, former NYR GM, Davidson.

Just thought to start throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks or get opinions started on the next step for this franchise.
Kiss this season of even if they make a playoff spot, they don't have cap space to keep the team together over the next two years and don't have the prospects to keep it going either.

The really bad news is you can't buy loyalty. You have to earn it.

It's the way she goes.

More than anything this team needs to hire an experienced President to lead the search for the next GM.

As well if that person does nothing other than act as a firewall between hockey ops and ownership they'll be worth every penny.
