Savard's 4 months younger not a year.

He's facing other teams top lines pretty much on a nightly basis, he's essentially their Brodie. The Jackets don't get a ton of media coverage, he's one of the best keep secrets in the NHL IMO. He really is an excellent dman and will only get better, he performs at both ends of the ice. That's a totally fair contract (not a steal) but one that I think both sides are happy with.

Sakic knows what he's doing. This off-season, he's lost ROR while gaining Beauchemin, Zadorov, Gormley and Grigorenko.

Not bad at all. Dealing from an organizational strength to fix an organizational weakness, and he even can replace ROR's spot in the lineup with Grigo.

RFA Stefan Elliott to Avalanche for Brandon Gormley.

What a strange trade. Guess Phoenix wasn't liking Gormley's development.

If I'm not mistaken, Elliot is a pretty good puck mover but I believe he was placed on waivers just last season. Damn I wish we had traded for Gormley, I would have been fine with sending Tspoon for him even.

I don't like that deal for AZ.

Avs acquired Brandon Gormely for Stefan Elliot.

The dream is dead.

Also Soderberg, who should replace most of what O'Reilly brought. Really successful off season for the Avalanche.

Wow, Arizona traded Gormley to Colorado?
this is definitely one of those "Well we know they have potential, let's make a deal and hope they pan out/need a change of scenery" type moves.

But damn I wish we could have been in on that. Gormley and Wides would have been a good bottom pair!
