Huh it's been eons since I've heard anything related to the Kostistyn's.
Same thing as Seto last year IMO. High reward low risk, especially with it only being a PTO.

Either Kostitsyn brother would be a huge improvement over Setoguchi, at least they could play in the top 9. Setoguchi was a disaster.

Not sure if it's been mentioned here, but Ryan Pilon has quite hockey. He lost the passion for it.
I mentioned it somewhere, maybe the Kylington thread? This opens up a chance for Kylington to play a bigger role in Brandon this year.

I loved Andrei Kostitsyn as a prospect, I thought he was going to become something good. He has some good years with the Habs early in his career when he looked like he would become a star player, but his play just seemed to lack passion as he gained more experience and stopped developing.

I was surprised when he left for KHL because I thought he might be able to thrive in a different environment after being stuck in the fish bowl in Montreal for so long, but I think he might have been "blacklisted" around the league after his evening out with Alexander Radulov. His play seemed to pick up right away in his brief stint in Nashville (12 points in 19 RS games, and 3 goals in 8 playoff games).

You never know what injuries might crop up in TC/Preseason. And Andrei is thickly built for an offensive player (like Kovalchuk) and can play physical as well. If the PTO happens and he plays up to what he's capable of in pre-season, I'd be all for adding him.

I don't think either Kostitsyn is on the table from how I understand this. I think Sportak put out a tweet about it, then later in the day said "my bad, I was wrong" rather than "my bad, wrong Kostitsyn." Unclear, though.

Based on the random tidbits, I think it might still be a developing story. The KHL has recently changed it's foreign designation for players to include Belarussians which count towards each team's 5 foreign player limit. Combined with Andrei's slow start to the season (2 pts in 7 games) and the KHL teams willingness to cut players suddenly, the story might still have legs. And if they had to choose between the 2 brothers, the younger Sergei would be the one to keep I would assume.

Andrei Kostitsyn had also tried to get out of his previous KHL contract a few years ago for a PTO with Florida.

I don't know, we'll see.

Man, I've been watching Bob McKenzie's interviews with GM's (Treliving and Chiarelli) and they are excellent. 30m + but well worth the time IMO.

For example Chiarelli called Virtanen a huge pain in the ass lol.
