Toronto Blue Jays select:

LHR - Mike Stanton

In his major league career, Stanton would post a 68–63 record with a 3.92 ERA and 84 saves in 1178 games pitched which ranks him second all-time in appearances behind Jesse Orosco (1252).
Despite being a set-up man, Stanton chose to come out of the bullpen to an entrance song like many Major League closers do. Stanton usually entered to Aldo Nova's "Fantasy". With the New York Mets however, he came in to Metallica's "Enter Sandman" during save situations as a tribute to Mariano Rivera, whom he set up for in his Yankees years.[6]
Mike Stanton is the all time holds leader, with 266. The hold is similar to the save, although it is not considered an official statistic. Arthur Rhodes is second on the list, with more than 40 fewer holds.

He was an AL All-Star for ten seasons,[4][a] an AL stolen base leader for 9 consecutive seasons, and an AL Gold Glove winner for 9 seasons.[5]Baseball legend Ted Williams called Aparicio "the best shortstop he had ever seen".[6] He was nominated for the Major League Baseball All-Century Team (one-hundred greatest players) in 1999.[2][7]

With the 313th pick in the draft, the Yomiuri Giants select RP Steven Roy Howe

p1.steve.howe.getty.jpg

A hard-throwing left-hander, Howe was the Rookie of the Year in 1980, saved the clinching game of the 1981 World Series, and was an All-Star in 1982. However, his career was derailed by problems with drug and alcohol abuse. He was suspended a number of times by Major League Baseball for drug-policy violations, but several times returned to show flashes of his former brilliance.

I'm confident that my management team can keep him clean for a season.

Braves will select SS/3B/2B Tony Fernandez!

There are other players available who you could consider better, but Tony's ability to play three of the four infield positions is too good to pass up, along with his Gold Glove winning defence.

5× All-Star (1986, 1987, 1989, 1992, 1999)
World Series champion (1993)
4× Gold Glove Award (1986–1989)

.980 FP
2708 PO

..... player most noted for his defensive skills, setting a nine-year record for shortstops with a .992 fielding percentage in 1989.

With the 315th pick the Montreal Royals select 3B Ray Dandridge.

back08_dandridge_thumb.jpg

BBHOF (1987)
3x NEL All-Star
.355 lifetime average
American Association MVP (1950 - at 36 years old)

Regarded as one of the best defensive third basemen ever, and of of the, if not the, best third basemen in Negro League history. He could reportedly play SS, 2B and OF too. Dandridge was also a great hitter; though he did not have much power, he regularly put the ball in play with a high batting average. Though 36 years old, he won the American Association MVP after hitting .311 with 195 hits, 80 RBI, and 106 runs scored. We are happy to have Ray come off the bench for our team.

With pick 317, the Pittsburgh Pirates are pleased to select, RP, Sergio Romo.

9 years in, and still active, with an outstanding numbers on his resume. Including very good post season numbers. Look at his numbers below.

Romo will add to the diversity of the pitching staff. With the power arms staff that is our starting staff, the pen will offer some change of pace to the fireballers. Different arms slots in O'Day and Romo, and varied pitch speed as well.

With a low-three quarters delivery Romo features three pitches: a slider that sits 75-79 mph which he uses against right handed batters, a two seam fastball sitting 88-90, and a change up which he uses against left handed hitters, sitting 80-83.

High K rate of 10.9 and super low walk rate of 1.8. There may be more, but the only RP in this year's ATD, that I can recall, that has a better K to walk ratio than Romo, is Koji Uehara.

ERA+ 147

ERA 2.58

FIP 2.71

WHIP 0.955

With pick 324, the Pittsburgh Pirates are pleased to select, SP/RP, John Candelaria.

Who can make a spot start?
Also pitch relief?
Throw a no hitter and record a crucial save?
The Candy Man........The Candy Man can.
The Candy Man can because he mixes it with love and makes the Pirates real good.....(the Pirates real good)

19 year vet.

356 games as a starter
244 games in relief

The Candy Man makes a perfect swing man. He will get some starts, and pitch long relief. And come playoff time, will be an important lefty in the pen that can go more than 1 inning.

Post season stats, 34 IP, 2.88 ERA.

As a starter had WAR seasons of 7.4, 4.5, 4.0, 4.0, 3.6, 3.3.

ERA 3.33
WHIP 1.184
