with pick 253, the Pittsburgh Pirates are pleased to select, RP Kenley Jansen.

At 6'5", 270, Jansen is an imposing figure. He has 7 years under his belt, of consistent, stellar relief pitching. He hasn't had the wild swings of ups and downs in his career that some of the other active RP's already taken in the draft. He has been steady as a rock. You know what you are getting.

ERA+ 169

FIP 1.93

WHIP .893

ERA 2.20

K9/13.9

11.8 WAR in 7 seasons.

I'll take RF - Enos "Country" Slaughter. He was a 10x All Star in right field while missing three prime years for the war.

How prime? The season before he left, he finished second in MVP voting. When he came back - third. He should be great coming off the bench.

The St. Louis Cardinals are pleased to select former NEL great SP/RP - Hilton Smith. Smith teamed with Satchel Paige to form the most dynamic pitching duo in the NEL and he will again team with Paige in this ATD, adding a tremendous relief option out of the pen.

- BBHOF (2001)
- NEL World Series Champion (1942)
- Major League Baseball equivalents of 174 wins and 2 seasons over 10 WAR a piece as a starter with another 8.4 mixed in for good measure.
- As a reliever his MLE seasons average about 3 wins of value with multiple relief innings per appearance being logged.
- Total estimated WAR of 54 in 12 seasons.

Pick #269 - 2B Bobby Grich

A solid 2B option to back up Pete against RHP, and perhaps play over him against LHP, due to better LH splits and fielding

-Top 100 all-time in both offensive (62.1) and defensive (16.2) WAR
-Career splits of .266/.371/.424 with a 162-game average of 18 HR and 70 RBI
-Played on five division-winning teams

Toronto Blue Jays select:

Vida Blue SP

During a 17-year career, he pitched for the Oakland Athletics (1969–77), San Francisco Giants (1978–81; 1985–86), and Kansas City Royals (1982–83). He won the American League Cy Young Award and Most Valuable Player Award in 1971. He is a six-time All-Star, and is the first of only four pitchers in major league history to start the All-Star Game for both the American League (1971) and the National League (1978); Roger Clemens, Randy Johnson and Roy Halladay later duplicated the feat.[1]

6× All-Star (1971, 1975, 1977, 1978, 1980, 1981)
3× World Series champion (1972–1974)
AL MVP (1971)
AL Cy Young Award (1971)
AL ERA leader (1971)
Pitched a no-hitter on September 21, 1970
Pitched a combined no-hitter on September 28, 1975

Toronto Blue Jays select:

Long Reliever...

Dan Plesac

Games pitched 1,064
Win–loss record 65–71
Earned run average 3.64
Strikeouts 1,041
Saves 158
3 x All Star

Plesac remains as one of only seven pitchers in the history of Major League Baseball to ever pitch over 1,050 G during a career; and he’s one of only four left-handed pitchers to ever pitch over 1,050 G during a career.

He might have been the best overall relief pitcher in all of baseball during the last few seasons of the 1980s, from 1987-1989. During those three consecutive seasons from 1987-1989, he combined to pitch almost 160 G of relief and over 190 IP. He recorded a combined 2.47 ERA, 86 SV, 171 ERA+, 1.08 WHIP, 7.3 H/9 and 3.7 K/BB.

Pitching:

Curt Schilling (R)
Roy Halladay (R)
Madison Bumgarner (L)
Andy Pettitte (L)
Vida Blue (L)

BP:

Dan Plesac (L)
Jeff Reardon (R)
Mariano Rivera (R)
