Official 2024 NHL Draft Thread

Eiserman at 8 is mental
As is Mews so low.
Artomonov being behind some of the guys ahead of him is laughable.
No Timur Kol (39th) or Noel Fransén (UNRANKED, bahahaha, guy just scored his first SHL goal, in draft season!) when some of those Euro Dmen are on there as well aha. Like, did they just not watch them?

But then again at this point Central Scouting have proven worse results than basically everyone.
Didn’t even notice Fransen was unranked haha. There’s so many wild ones. Not surprising that he’s not super high but 57 for Hutson? Galvas at 29? Reber at 110? Wild.

Have you ever looked at studies around older/younger players in their draft year? Ie. is Eiserman being young a plus?

It generally does but it probably has more relevance once you start moving away from the top picks & there’s more projection to be had. At the top I don’t think it really matters much because most guys that generally go in that slot are older players with fall/winter birthdays.

Parekh looks like Karlsson so much at the point it's crazy. Obviously wouldn't project that kind of career.

Not sure I'm buying Silayev's production. Think he benefited from an early season shooting heater. 6 points in the first 6 games. 5 in 42 since. Ice time has gone down too.

I wish Dickinson would shoot less at the point. I know some of that is probably power play strategy related, get pucks to the front for Bonk to tip, but a trigger happy dman is tough to project.

If nothing else with the extra draft picks this year and next it will give u draft guys something to look forward to. Hopefully we can find some gems with those picks.

*removed the U20 Czech and Slovak leagues as the numbers are wonky. Miroslav Satan has a son of the same name and he's 6'7 lol.

What are your takes on Julius Miettinen from the Everett Silvertips?

A Helsinki product, in his first season in the WHL, will turn 18 tomorrow and switched positions from LW to C.

At 6`3" and 207 lbs with with 20g and 22a in 44 games played he is intriguing to me. We won't have any chance to draft one of Demidov, Helenius, Lindström or Catton so I am wondering if he has top6 C upside?

Wonder if Nolan Ling gets drafted...

0.55 P/GP
0.52 EV P/GP

Skates pretty well, quite aggressive and a good passer.

Not talked about at all.

Was a high pick in the OHL draft a few years ago (16th overall) but the Kingston Frontenacs only played him 12 games last year in a limited role and this year has moved to Gatineau in the Q.

His statistical profile is the kind that has a veeeery high chance of being an NHLer. Over 0.5 EV P/GP is so hard to do for a Dman in CHL. And when watch him not like he has massive holes.

Not even on central scoutings list.

The CHL, Top prospects game Wednesday Jan 24, will obviously be heavily scouted.
‘the guy I will keep an eye on is Tanner Howe.
we will add to our cupboard with 2 firsts and 51 for JOB in 24.
‘Briere is building 25 picks. Our first and Columbus and Anaheim 2nds,

There's a few spots left in this mock draft on the... well, mock draft board. I've joined the last couple years to scratch the itch in between our own on here. Join up and you'll probably be able to rip me off in a trade.
