If we can get Jiricek for Schmaltz and and 2nds absolutely, but I would also have said that before Durzi's injury and the Marino news. Assuming that deal isn't on the table because it seems way too light from our side I'm cool with a stop gap or just calling up Koch
RT mentioned a 2026 first and Maccelli for Jiricek. This might make you sad to hear but I doubt we do that. Had we not resigned Durzi for 4 years along with trading for Marino I would be behind it. Kesselring/Koly have looked great so far this season and Mav Lam is not to far behind. Jiricek would fit our rebuild timeline but we may have a log jam of RD when guys get healthy.
Their seems to be some tension between the Jiricek and coach/GM(both are new and did not draft him). Hes only played in one game so far (11:23 min) and has been scratched the rest. If BA can buy low on the former #6 pick that would be great. Our 1st rd pick wouldnt be on the table for me though. We have a ton of wing depth and more prospects like But, Iginla, Lutz+ on the way.
I think more realistic trade would be Carcone and a mid/late rd pick for Liljegren.

I wouldn't spend all on that Jiricek.

Columbus has a seriously weak D core and he's unable to crack it consistently. There's a reason for that. I am not impressed with his skating.

IF this team is trading Maccelli and a 1st, I'd hope it's for someone much more established.

Maccelli and Crouse worked so well together last year and I can't understand why AT doesn't put them back together this year.
I agree but scoring isn't our major problem this year, team D is the problem to solve. That might be why they are not together.

It still is early in the season and Coach may be still looking at what works. Big Nick will be back soon enough and it may be the center depth, the forwards defensive play, and not so much about wings working together that forces the issue.

Friedman talks Utah injury situation at 35:24 mark.
(Hint.... doesn't see BA making any panic moves.)

I hope so.

Maccelli has some of the most underrated passing in the NHL and that line was great last year.

He's wasted with Stenlund.
And you can say the same thing with Stenlund playing with 2 midgets... I thought he was brought in to be a shut down center? To kill any chance the opposition has in gaining momentum!

Yep and even more reason to get Maccelli back on the 3rd line. I feel like AT has the lines the way they are so the more defensive forwards are spread throughout the lineup and the younger guys have a babysitter. Seems like Doan being with Crouse has made AT put Kerfoot with them while Doan gets more comfortable at C. Maccelli with Doan would probably be a bit too much of a liability, especially with how banged up the defense is

Doan to Tucson once Big Nick comes back?
Resurrect the Maccelli Bjugstad Crouse line?
Don't know about the first question, but a big yes for the second.

Doan plays very well defensively.

Not sure how I feel about Mav being called upon so soon. Nothing on the waiver line? Hopefully he takes it and runs with it. Anyone guess on his pairing

I thought Maccelli wasnt used properly last year, but this year it has been worse. I do understand he had a terrible 1st game with Crouse and Doan but is it really a good reason to put him in the doghouse for the next 5 games?

Last year, they gave 18yrs old cooley prime PP time as the set up man. I thought it was crazy not to uses Mattias instead. This year he is buried on the 4th line so far.

It is easy to imagine a scenario where he is traded at some point this year or next year. I mean it should not get any easier for him with Iginla and But coming over at some point. He must have a very good trade value, other teams have seen him and know how good he is.

We've got to trade more of our offensive riches for defensive help sometime over the next few seasons. Like they did with Geekie, trading Maccelli is a possibility IMO.

There's just not enough room for all these forwards to be where they need to be in the lineup. Logjam is a great problem to have.

Curious who actually gets moved when it happens. I just know it''s gonna hurt.

Think it's fine to recall Lamoureux. He either does so well they can't send him down or he learns what he needs to work on to stay up in the NHL the next time. The team gets more time to find a solution for the defense - either a waiver pick up, free agent signing, or low-cost trade.

I see the same logjam at D as we see at W.
I think Szuber and Duda are likely close to NHL caliber and will be ready soon. I don't see any path for them to get a sustained opportunity, without a path being cleared for them.

Valimaki should be traded. I’m tired of watching his poor defense already. Cole is on a 1 year contract so we can walk away from him if needed. The left side is weak behind Sergachev.
