I see the same logjam at D as we see at W.
I think Szuber and Duda are likely close to NHL caliber and will be ready soon. I don't see any path for them to get a sustained opportunity, without a path being cleared for them.

It's nice to be loaded! Whatever the need ends up being they've got the currency.

And you add Simashev next season, you don't want to create a problem in the future and GMBA does not want to treat any player as just a commodity, even with signing players in the past for 1 year, everybody knew beforehand that they were going to be traded by the deadline and accepted it and it wouldn't surprise me if the player had a say in it.
Anyways, I don't think there is a team out there who is into selling right now except maybe SJ.

I do question having to use Sergachev so much on the penalty kill when the team has lost their top 2 RHDs.

Wishing we could acquire Bichsel, but that ain't gonna happen!

We could find ourselves having a few players that are ready for and deserve to be in the NHL but have no room for them on the roster. No option but to make trades or hurt their careers by holding them back. That's not treating them like a commodity IMO. That's doing then a solid.

BA didn't flinch at trading Geekie or Moser either. Players expect trades throughout their career so that doesn't worry me much.

Doan plays very well defensively.

I thought you didn't like guys who get knocked on their ass a bunch.

Just kidding, but I have noticed him losing battles by the net and boards and can struggle with puck control in open ice when he has defenders draped on him. Growing pains for a young kid that is still filling out his frame.

Doan being waiver exempt is a luxury. We should absolutely let him bake down there and be the first call up when needed.

i don't want to send doan to roadrunners, there is a chance he would be too comfortable. grew up there, went to school there, would be easy to get complacent. no issues with his being sent to ahl, just unique circumstance and would prefer him being loaned to another ahl team, in a miserable place that he couldn't wait to leave.

can't imagine any rhd that could take pressure off serge on top pair being waived, may be better to get someone like deangelo to help on the powerplay or a shot blocker like harmonic in a cheap trade. just need a couple role players until durzi returns. marino having back surgery is a bigger concern, need a plan. showcasing ahl guys to other gm's could be helpful in that sense.

DeAngelo went to Russia. He's also locker room kryptonite.

They may very well do so, but Doan has proven he is a NHL player, is part of the future, unlike Carcone, Yamamoto and LOB. Also, they have him playing C out of desperation, which is asking a lot from a rookie who is not a natural C. Maybe when Bjugstad gets back they can play him at wing where Doan seems much more comfortable.

If that’s the case, he’ll never make it in the show.
For the record, I believe it’s not.

Thoughts on Maccelli for a D that isn’t necessarily a core player but the deal gets bolstered by a decent pick or prospect or two? Assets to be parlayed at a later date?
Rather move picks. Can a 2 and Carcone get us a decent fill in?

I think it may end up being Kerfoot, at least that's what I think today. It seems more teams want a center than a wing.

The 2nd carrys more value than Carcone. It's too early in the season for teams trading for draft picks. I don't see any teams having that much depth of healthy blue liners at this time to trade. It's a bad time of the season to be looking for trades. We'll need to get Bjugstad back before we can actually look for a trade. That is just my opinion!

this! Was thinking about Jayden Strubble - big young physiscal D with mobility, made for playoff hockey. Could also be Arber Xhejaj. Mtl probably needs to add a pick of 2

He'd be a good fit in Mtl. He'd get more opportunities that is for sure.

Probably just a dream of course but it is nice to throw this out in the universe

Who do you have in mind? What is Carcone and LOB worth? If we don't want them why would most other teams?
Ivan Provorov or Neal Pionk. I would pay Carcone, 2nd with possible 3rd. They are rentals we retrade at deadline. Hopefully get a 2nd back. That's my hope in my demented little world.

Provorov could be a good trade candidate.

Jets highly unlikely to trade their top 4 (so far this season) RHD this early in the season.

Send Carcone to Toronto in a Liljegren deal. He can go play for the Marlies.

The Jets are going for the SC this year so you are not getting Pionk, let alone for so little. Same goes for Provorov who may go to a SC contender, but either of those two are going to cost more. IF that is what you want to give up think another over the hill stop gap player like Cole.

That would depend on what BA thinks of Liljegren, and vice versa. I think TO might want a draft pick or two instead of Carcone.
