The whole tournament was rigged so those dirty cheating Canadians would win and this goober accidentally leaked the end of this game because he saw the script.

So USA could return this next year from an age eligibility standpoint…

Augustine
Oke

Chesley
Hutson

Brindley
Cooley
Gauthier
McGroarty
Snuggerud
Stramel

They missed Nazar this tournament who probably would have been another 18 year old playing a bigger role for them this year. Cooley is probably the biggest NHL threat amongst those guys.

I don't think Snuggerud and Cooley will be there. Should be either in the NHL or close to it

Ah I’m not so sure of that. It’s easy to say it in the moment after the tournament they just had. But it’s not easy playing in the NHL as a 19 year old so that’s not a given.

Some of these college kids will play the second year in college to avoid AHL time then turn pro at 20 & hopefully become a full time NHLer.

I think Cooley is the more likely of the two to sign an NHL contract this spring. Where it goes from there who knows. Arizona (Cooley) is in a rebuild & St. Louis (Snuggerud) looks like they’re headed for some form of one so that could factor in on the club’s end too.

They didn’t really utilize him enough imo.

Ufko will have a lot of points, mostly from the Germany game, but he gave a lot back in key moments. For some reason they kept sticking him on Bedard.

Yeah, Zegras played in the AHL to start and demolished the WJC at 19. They’re quite similar trajectories, so I don’t see it as a foregone conclusion. Snuggypoo will absolutely be back.

Your right I only get to see these kids at this tournament but Wright played a bit for the Kraken and they are much better than him. If they decide to stay another year in school that is a good choice by them also

I finished the USA game a bit ago, and my main Gauthier impression was he was a lot better, after about the first 10 minutes. I don't know if he actually scored his 2nd goal, but he was a lot calmer with his decisions and passing. He was actually going for entries and dangles. Not as many Neptune shots. If you watched that over the Canada game, you'd have a more positive impression.

Now, my other side takeaway is it was a gong show defensive game with open ice galore. At least 4 HockeyGuys™ had heart attacks watching. Being good with lots of time and space is fine, but being overwhelmed by pace and tight checking is not ideal. An NHL game will resemble the Team Canada game.
