I'm excited about it. My sister is definitely taking me out of my comfort zone, though. We have a 6.5 hour layover in London before we go to Switzerland. She's hellbent on taking a train out of Heathrow and seeing...sights, something Paddington something... Left to me I'd simply enjoy the accent and different monetary system in the airport. She's more savvy around strange spots, though. I'll be nervous but I'll roll with it. I may end up in Paris.
With that kind of layover you should be able to see quite a bit surface level. I'd probably head out to Tower Hill so you can get a quick view of Tower Bridge and Tower of London then work your way back to Westminster. From there you can easily see Big Ben/Parliament/London Eye and then could walk up to Trafalgar Square, over to Buckingham Palace, and then back towards the station and pass Westminster Abbey. Would be the quick super surface area tourist stuff but I'll bet you could get all of that done in 3 hours or so round trip.
Also I'm really jealous.
