OK, it's STORYTIME WITH BFC!!!!!!!!!!!!

16 years ago (Jesus Christ it was that long) the Preds traded for Eric Belanger. To me it was 2 things

1) Preds needed a 3rd C and I predicted he would be the one.

2) The guy had the same last name as me.

Great, I could get a jersey with my last name on it and it would not be self grandizing. Then the Preds traded him to Atlanta...Leading me to go, 'GOD DAMN YOU, POILE! DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL!'

Now I was curious as to what Eric Belanger was doing. He is now coaching for the new ECHL team Trois-Riviers Lions. While looking him up HE'S FROM THE SAME CITY AS MY GRANDFATHER!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, Sherbrooke is huge, and Belanger is like 'Smith' in Quebec, but I have to try, right?

Sent an e-mail to the team to see...we shall see.

Hi! Resident old curmudgeon here. So I access this site via my phone 98% of the time and now everytime I click on a page I get asked if I want to use an ad blocker.....and then use one they recommend.

This some new scam? I'm not installing anything from this site, I'd be safer leaving a bottle of Pappy unattended at a bachelor party.

Anyone else having this issue?

I remember that 3 hour time frame.

RIP @Buffaloed

I saw that that kid, Ben, from Edmonton passed away. Always sad when children are victims of their health issues.

One of my coworkers told me the other day he has a niece who "will" pass away soon--there is no other outcome. 4 years old. It broke my heart.
That is really sad. I had a coworker whose 8 year old grand daughter died of a heart defect. By the time doctors figured out the rare problem, she was too weak to survive an operation to fix it.

My wife and I did some volunteer work at the local children's hospital like collecting toys for the kids who were too sick to go home around Christmas time. You can't go into the HOT ward, hematology, oncology and transplant. The kids only see their parents and the doctors and nurses, so it is kind of lonely. We knew a nurse who worked there, so we could bring in a car load of toys in garbage bags and turn them over.

It is heartbreaking to see a 3 year old that is bald because of chemotherapy and know that dozens of other sick kids are there. I encourage people to donate generously and do what you can.

I saw gas for $3.09 yesterday in Milwaukee. This morning, going the other direction, it read $3.89. Apparently, the two red lights in the middle of the 8 were burned out. Prices are going up here. I filled up for $3.65, 16 cents a gallon more than the last time.

It's $3.11 at "my" Thornton's. I've heard it was less in places but haven't seen it.

@Jonesey I'm sorry, as much as I love the game it's not something I can devote that much time to. I'm dealing with 3 companies as we merge, my MIL's estate, and our own finances. It's really all the numbers I can manage! If you can't do it, I certainly understand. It's a relatively large undertaking on your part.

I thought about it but we just got word two days ago that my father in law has been diagnosed with cancer. That combined with a whole host of other issues and I may not even bother playing this year.

Luckily his isn't in the middle of the covid pandemic like we had to deal with when the mother in law was going through it.

Maybe if it was a thing where you submitted your 10-15 picks for a given month all at once, that would alleviate the pressure for the organizer to stay on top of things every game? I will miss some stretches for hockey tournaments or work emergencies for example, but if you already had a whole month submitted, it would be less onerous to just catch up when able? Even if it took a way a little of the dynamic who-is-hot/who-starts-in-net/who-is-injured part of it, then people who lost out on that side of things would only lose out a couple times a month? (Or we'd make fun of their bad luck if they lost out more). Anyway, I'd be willing to do it under that kind of setup. :dunno:

Would be much easier if I could figure out a way to automate it somehow but it's all manual work on excel.

And just to keep the gas theme alive, it got down to 3.06 at "my" Thornton's, then shot up to $3.39 overnight (pity since I still had a fourth of a tank so I missed the low) Now it's at $3.28 so, yay? Still better than $4 but I prefer the $1's and 2's. Lowest I can ever remember was 30c for regular (leaded--oh, how that black smoke billowed!) My dad told me it was a gas war since 33c was standard.
