Pretty significant for a certain booger picker too.
The follow up to that story is yes her mother did name her from that song and it's a damn good thing she wasnt a boy because if so the name would have been Elton John.

Vince Gill? (Sorry, don't get the reference)

I liked the song PRE Vince days. They'd even play the long version on the radio sometimes. I specifically remember it playing as we were driving to take some sort of college test, ACT or SAT's so that would have been 1974-75ish. I was in an on - off relationship at the time so it was both easy to sing along to and relevant. (Ended up "off" but we're still the best of friends)

I literally can't walk into any of them; I'm so hypersensitive to capsaicin that the fumes alone destroy me. Last time I was anywhere near a hot chicken place it was during a car trip with @BigFatCat999 and he wanted to order out, and just bringing his takeout order into the car had an adverse effect on me.
I don't eat really spicy food. My wife always thinks it is funny or that I am kidding until one time my eyes turned red due to the food SHE was eating. We had a few words in the car after that happened.

For me the time friends realized I wasn't kidding was when we went (with some reluctance on my part) to an Indian restaurant (IIRC one near the Vanderbilt campus). The folks working the kitchen there... they tried, bless their hearts they tried, but it was quite clear that despite multiple attempts they really had no idea what was meant by "Not Spicy". Everyone else at the table is sampling the latest attempt to meet my request and going "WTF, this isn't spicy at all", and I keep repeating the pattern of taking one bite and thinking "wow, I think they actually got it this tiOH MY G-D THEY DIDN'T WAAUGH".

I wish I had that experience with Indian restaurants in the US. Seems any time I go to one I have to tell them a spice level. I don't want to name a spice level. I want to tell you the curry and you should know when I order Vindaloo that I want it Vindaloo hot!

I'm kind of glad they ask. As I have discovered with Mexican food, everyones idea of hot is different.

I've had Chille Verdes that have a nice spice level to where you get a sweat going at the end. Then I've had some that you could tell before you even put a fork in it that it was going to light you on fire.

But that's the thing. A curry name is supposed to carry the flavor and the spice. It's kind of a US thing to do this whole heat level choice thing. It's not really a problem but I had my first experiences with Indian curry from the source and from the UK and it was really strange when I tried to order it here. I didn't know what to tell them. Like I said, the first guy who asked me I jsut said "Vindaloo hot?" and I guess he knew what I meant because it was spicy like it should be.

Just fyi, if you ever go to Chauhan's spot in the gulch and order curry they do it the traditional way. What you order is what you get. That Vindaloo is pretty spicy too!

Yeah but they do that here because Americans traditionally aren't up on what curry is what. Really up until the last 15 years or so it was hard to even find outside of a major city.

Gas is $3.31 here in Hermitage, so bring your empty (approved) containers and head this way if you're close enough for it to make an overall difference. I didn't stop since I still have a fourth of a tank left from when I got it at $3.8...something a few weeks back. As I've mentioned I just don't have to do a lot of driving so it lasts a while. For everyone who DOES have to drive a lot I'm hoping the trend continues.

Topic 1: According to GasBuddy, the cheapest station is a Mobil across town from me at $3.59. There are many other stations in the Milwaukee area at $3.69. (I remember $5.15 not too long ago.)

Topic 2: I was on another ice hockey board about 20 years ago. I don't remember the name, but it had blue ice with skate marks on it as most of the front page. There wasn't a lot of activity on that site.

I found an AHL site around 2007 and stayed with it until the end. A few other people moved to HF with me.

I joined this website Memorial Day weekend of 2008 and have posted more each successive year.

You are a great bunch to be with online!

Trivia team If Jeannot, Jeannot lost tonight because a certain 26 year old FAILED to bid enough on the final question. From now on the trivia team will be known as Benning's Jockstrap
Ya know, I am sure all the other teams wondered what the heck your team name meant. The 26 year old will bid properly next time.

What kind of trivia do you play? We have America's Pub Quiz up here, but I know they don't have a league in TN.
They do have a league in Florida.

I have also played Quiz Master and Sporcle.

I played at McNamara's in Nashville about 7 years ago, but that was a one time thing.

Best of luck to you and your team!

I like Ryan Hunter-Reay. He seems to be one of the few people from the US that drives those cars these days.
Hunter Reay is sidelined this year as the Ganassi Reserve Driver but he's always been a fav

There are a lot more Americans lately than in years past...

- Newgarden (Nashville's own)
- Rossi
- Herta
- Kyle Kirkwood
-Conor Daly
- Ed Carpenter
- Santino Ferrucci
-Graham Rahal
-David Malukas
-Jimmie Johnson

So roughly 1/3 of the field is Americans
