I would guess anyone asking for another pen arm here would have done that? 16 million is a lot for a reliever but no long term risk at all.

I'm fine with the pen as is, but anyone who wanted an upgrade this seems like a decent risk.
 
With expanded playoffs, lots of teams will be in it and if the pen stinks early in there won't be any teams really looking to trade good relievers. Was hoping to go into the year slightly better than we are now but it's manageable.

It's actually big brain.

The Rangers tried to make the playoffs on signing one elite shortstop when they got A-Rod way back when. This time, you get three shortstops. It's three times more likely to work!

If you sign a shortstop to play every position you don't have to worry if they implement the new shifting rule. It's genius really :sarcasm:
