Why would Carolina trade Pesce? Wasn't that only going to happen if they acquired Karlsson?

Orlov/Slavin/Skjei/ Burns/Pesce/Deangelo/Jones/chatfield

He has 1 year left and they’re probably not gonna re-sign him. They seem pretty high on Nikishin

But they want to win a Cup next season and weakening their defense is not going to help that, unless it's a 1-for-1 to get a forward who can score. Maybe they could be talked into a Marchment trade (kinda doubt it), but otherwise there's nobody we would be willing to give up that they'd want.

Exactly this. He isn't going anywhere unless Carolina tanks before the deadline and isn't in contention. They have a hell of a team there now to win it all.

The only way Canes would have moved Pesce this offseason is if EK had ended up there. Since he didn't earliest they move him is deadline-ish and only if it makes their team better. Contenders are usually fine with letting UFA's walk for nothing if he still helps them win that last season

I haven't played an NHL game since they stopped making them for PC. Thought about buying one since i got my PS5 but idk everything is just this ultimate team crap from what i can tell nowadays.

When I had it in the Xbox 360 days the fun thing to do was play online games (EASHL). That was the only thing I was interested in at that point.

EA doesn't want it on PC because the community would make it better and then they wouldn't be able to charge us every year for a glorified roster update that the community ends up having to balance and fix anyways.

I used to buy the game at launch for the longest time, but now I end up waiting until it's either half price or practically free before buying it, if at all.

Yep. Hopefully they have another price error this year at gamestop and I can preorder it brand new for $15 again lol.

I have Xbox game pass, and you get a 10 hour trial on nhl/madden/whatever with it when they come out. I made it from October to April (when it became free) without using half the ten hours on NHL. Very proud of that.

That said, franchise mode for nhl isn’t awful and it’s all I play as far as sports games go now.

I haven't played it in a while, but the EA NHL franchise modes just felt so friggen dry and bland. There's like no personality to them

Almost thankful seemingly most of the microtransactions in games in general are in the Sports games . Of course that means i'm not really touching them anymore.

Those ultimate team thingies must be massive money makers.

That entire gamemode is just one big wierd casino and every major sports game has this shit even NBA2k has something like it and thats not even by EA

I highly doubt it as there’s not a huge player base for it. Mobile gacha games rake in a disgusting amout of money per year in comparison. Sports games are mild compared to whats out there today.

Ultimate team is what I usually play on sports games (NHL in past years but this year it was Fifa for me). It's so easy to spend a ton of money on that...if you don't spend money then you need to spend hundreds of hours and be insanely lucky to get a good team pretty much. Such a shame it works that way but makes them a fortune no doubt.

I used to spend a lotttt on ultimate team but thankfully I managed to get away from the spending part. Unfortunately it's really tough and time consuming to grind out for good players on NHL though. Much more manageable and enjoyable on Fifa. Hopefully they change that for the NHL game
