The role difficulty plays a big part there. How did this translate to Cates above Faksa in their defense-only ranking?
Faksa is ahead in both transition and defense. He also plays the more important position.
Definitely should trade him now if he has a boost in trade value after this defensive season.Quick, trade Faksa to Boston for Carlo as their Bergeron replacement

Definitely not on trading him now. A real GM can't always be thinking about some potentially mythical improvement from some young prospect or draft pick. You have a good role player on a reasonable salary who is very good at what they do. You were 6 wins from the Cup. You keep your good players and try to add, not subtract for some future considerations. The role difficulty plays a big part there.

yea but think about the impact a 2024 2nd round pick will have for this team in 2030 !Definitely not on trading him now. As if we draft anything other than elite franchise cornerstones in the 2nd round. You better check your draft privileges frenyea but think about the impact a 2024 2nd round pick will have for this team in 2030 !
the org's scouts have struck a great balance between hitting absolute home runs and also whiffing on meatballs - but i guess that's drafting in a nutshellAs if we draft anything other than elite franchise cornerstones in the 2nd round. You better check your draft privileges fren
Side note: Friedman and Marek have mentioned a few times before how hard VGK has tried to get Faksa from Dallas. You’ve seen the prices they pay. If they couldn’t get Nill to trade Faksa I doubt anyone can.
Vegas would do this.

Lol only retaining $1.5m? No thanks. That’s a terrible proposal. We give up Mush, Lundkvist (1st), a 1st, 2nd, and a prospect for a 33 year d-man at $10m? f*** no.
Improvements from within are always a question mark, but he is one of the only realistic “cap relief” options right now. The defensive impact is hard to fully replace, but easier than to ask the current lineup to perform better vs. adding someone from the outside to the offensive side.Definitely not on trading him now. Think you can get San Jose to retain more than that for that package, but it’s still a probable yes for me. Hate giving up Nils though.
