For me man. No need to apologize. Appreciate the insider info. Everything is taken with a grain of salt and I understand enough that even though you are sharing info that shit can change in a minute. I wouldn’t worry so much about everyone. I’m sure people with half a brain and understand the situation appreciate what you are doing.

Im not here to judge. Just to pass on what I am hearing and thoughts. Like some others. Thank you for the support

Fellow Blue Jay fans,

It is with regret that I passed on information to you all prior to Hazel Mae and other reputable baseball insiders such as Olsney, Rothenthal, Passan and Gammons about the possible Brantley signing.

Myself and all these other reputable insiders were lead to believe that a deal with Brantley was completed with the Blue Jays. I will hold firm that the deal with Brantley was in place a month prior to the Springer signing, and it was fully dependent on the eventual Springer signing. Hazel and others know this same information hence the reason for Twitter and other media outlets reporting the signing .

My source which I will repeat again is the same possible source that I, Hazel and other local insiders such as Vendetta has holds true to what we reported and other baseball insiders. The Jays had Brantley on a 3yr deal. You can all rip Hazel and I apart as much as you would like, while covering and following reputable insiders and posting their tweets. But although we reported the Brantley signing first, reputable insiders followed with the same information.

This does not make us any less of an insider then the ones currently employed by high ranking sports news outlets. It only proves that even those that get paid handsomely can be just as wrong as myself.

I will hold true to my information that I passed along. As the other insiders havent provided any explanation, I only have that to say.

Toronto Blue Jays front office is not happy today. This I can pass on. Specifics on what went array are unknown, other then the Jays dropped initial 3yr offer to 2yr and Houston was given an opportunity match or beat. Why they dropped their offer, is unknown. But there are unhappy front office people today with how this whole situation unfolded.

I can though report that the Jays are indeed in discussions and have been more aggressively with Reds the past 24 hours. No specifics at this time. But we can all assume it has to do with a possible Lindor type trade. One that includes a SP and INF.
All good! Get the next one right now you'll be a hero around here.

You should be paddled by each member of this board for your misleading actions. You provide the paddle.
Nah, you need to get a life.

Everyone hating on shaner89 for being rude to hazel (deservedly so although we know he's just fickle) but then also hating on this guy. Yeesh. Talk about double standards. That's whack af.

Cool. Just got off the phone, something is brewing. Lots of conference calls being scheduled through inter-office calendars. Shapiro, Atkins and Montoyo booked for conference calls all afternoon. Conference calls are showing as private in their calendars. Im being told 3 separate calls are scheduled between 1:30pm and 4:30 pm.

I certainly read that as a sarcastic comment. I'd be surprised if it wasn't a jab at shaner

If I'm the Jays I do everything I can to sign Bauer and then offer the Reds Kirk+Martinez+ for Castillo.

1. Ryu
2. Bauer
3. Castillo
4. Pearson
5. Ray

The offence with Springer and that rotation would have the Jays as favourites for the East imo. If Pearson hits on his potential and Bauer shows that he is consistently an ace then that would be the best rotation in baseball imo. That rotation could potentially have 4 aces.

Assuming Bauer gets 25-30 million AAV, the payroll would be around $130 million with Roark + Grichuk $22 million still available to be blasted off into the sun team Rocket style.
This makes the most sense IMO. It’s bullish yet practical in terms of needs and what could realistically get accomplished if everything goes right. I wouldn’t be opposed to a higher AV for Bauer over a short term deal like 3 years. IMO to get him on 3 years and considering the Canada/Buffalo factor it would cost around 100 million. Then we can dish out prospect capital (Kloff, Moreno, Martinez, Pardhino) for a pitcher like Castillo. I like this route the most.

Could the offence/lineup use an additional upgrade? Sure but tbh I'd rather sign a guy for cheap like Semien or even Turner if he's still on the market on a 2 year deal. I think establishing the rotation as a legitimate strength will go a long way in taking pressure off of the offence.

Having as many #1/aces in your rotation as possible is never a bad thing. I'd wager it's a better allocation of money going after Bauer + trading for Castillo compared to signing Realmuto and trading Jansen + for 1 top of the rotation starter.

If you look at the top teams in the league and see what they're putting on the mound in a 5-7 game series, it's imperative that your starters are up to par.

Has there been anything reported on bringing back Walker?

Ya seems like he would love to come back. Not sure what his demands are but he'd be a great fringe SP/relief guy.

Get Bauer or at least Odirizzi and Walker and figure out what position player needs to be moved?
I'm thinking Tellez is gone and both Hernandez/Vlad etc cycle through DH?

I'm really confused about the quote about the system there. He has seven Jays as 50 FV or better, but then says the system is near the bottom of the league. In the 2020 update, Fangraphs had the Jays as the 12th best Farm System in the league. They've bumped Pearson from a 55 to a 60, Moreno from a 45 to a 50, everyone else stayed basically the same with a couple 40-45 guys graduating. And that makes the system... drop? To one of the worst in the league?

I don't get it.

What would a potential trade for Moustakas + Castillo look like?

As I mentioned yesterday, the deal that is being discussed is not Castillo and Moustakas but rather Gray and Moustakas. The Castillo acquisition cost is too large for the Jays when it comes to prospect capital having to go the other way.

I don't mind Gray...but I do get worried that when he pitched for the Yanks in the same division, he struggled.

There's a big difference between reporter who's a Rogers employee and very clearly has contacts with the team and a guy on a message board who completely changed everything about his posting style and started "reporting" his inside sources literally yesterday, has only reported on things other people have already said, and even then has ended up being wrong on everything so far.

I hear you, but Gray held his own pitching against the AL East as a member of the Athletics. He did have a tough run when the Yankees acquired him but in the end Gray is a definite upgrade to the Jays rotation at a smaller cost.

Castillo would decimate our prospect pool, and in the end we want to be able to keep some bullets to be fired later in the season or next off season.

Agreed.

Definite improvement to our staff as he would easily become our 2nd or 3rd best pitcher...but we still need guys that can eat innings.

Gray has shown the ability to provide IP. Has started close to 30 games 5 out of 8 seasons providing over 160 IP 4 times. One season in 2018 with NYY he would have been a workhorse for them as well if it wasnt for the acquisition of Happ from Toronto for the last 2 months of the season.

so what? The issue isn't that. The issue is saying someone shouldn't be so disrespectful towards Hazel but then making snarky remarks to someone else. All forms of being rude shouldn't be condoned. It is fairly hypocritical.

And EVEN IF he only started reporting his inside sources yesterday who cares? This is a board where it is even LESS essential to get things right. To your point that there is a rogers employee getting it wrong- she SHOULD have gotten it right and the consensus on that is welll.... everyone makes mistakes but this dude is getting vilified. Not only hypocritical but just plain stupid lol but that's just MO.

And folks don't like him because they don't think he has sources.... well thank god for that ignore button.

Shaner was the only one called out for being over the top because he wanted Hazel fired and never allowed to report again. That isn't hypocritical in the slightest.

I was more focused on these stats myself: Career stats vs AL East. Yes, its a small sample, but he hasn't done extremely well.

You can disagree with what people are saying, but you were incorrect in saying it was hypocritical. The two are clearly not the same, so those posters are not hypocritical. For it to be hypocritical, there would have to be no area that lies between saying Hazel's entire life being ruined is fair justice and a poster being "rude".
