Platoon with EE? Why do you need a platoon partner for EE? Do you remember that he hit 42 freaking bombs last season? ;)
He also hit 17 the season before where people wanted to trade him and 21 the season before. He could repeat it but its highly unlikely

I think he meant somebody who can also play 1B/DH so they can switch back and forth.

No point - it's Lind you need to switch off, since he's utterly useless against lefties. But they may actually have addressed that this past week, if Canzler sticks in Spring Training. Lind and Encarnacion can take turns in the field between 1B and DH against righties, and against lefties Encarnacion plays 1B while Canzler DH's.

More importantly its another piece that is for sure gone from the Yankee's. Swisher, Martin and Soriano gone along with big injuries to Jeter and Rivera means good times ahead for us.

I dont think he will have any value until he shows he can pitch at the MLB level.
I think it is best to send him to AAA when he is healthy to work on being a relief pitcher for 2014. If he works out as a relief pitcher maybe then you consider stretching him back out as a starter in 2015.

Coming of 2 Tommy John's surgeries and with how little success he has shown in the majors no one will give us anything of value for him when he returns next season.

I think when hes back and in AAA he'll be starting. Unless they want him in the pen to ease back into things.

The Jays seem to like to have all of their prospects start to keep their value high

14M per for Swisher is a pretty good deal for the Indians. They traded Choo and got Bauer and then just replaced with just as good, if not a better player.

Swisher has an edge in power, but I'd say that's about it. All things considered it's a lateral move. It's only money so hey, good for them. Getting Bauer was a sweet move.

Ryan Freel is dead apparently.

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-b...-home-former-reds-utility-070021288--mlb.html

For someone who amounted to part-timer, Ryan Freel gave a lot of joy to baseball fans. He exhibited a colorful, sometimes bizarre personality and demonstrated an acrobatic, sometimes reckless style of play that took a toll on his career. He was fun to watch and write about. But he also was troubled. And now we are left to wonder why he took his own life.

Why must it always been the smiling ones that pass man :(

I look at this group and your eyes are locked on the Red Sox but I look at the rosters and I'm asking myself this; What the **** do the Yankees have?

A-Rod is out 1/2 a year, Jeter will not be the same, they trying to trade Granderson, Youkilis is ok and will be a cool piece when A-Rod is back.

But honestly there not ready to win so why spend such big money now? I like that AA didn't waste money on patching holes in our lineup when weren't competitive so he could save ALL the money for this off-season. No doubt Swisher makes them more of a threat but honestly there a non factor in the American League

sad about freel, prayers go out to family and friends
I didn't know he played for us once though,
first 4 hockey players were lost, than 2 football players
now a baseball player
something needs to be done
RIP Ryan Freel

They have the best 2nd baseman in the game. They have CC. Kuroda is a great #2. Petittee is good as well. Tex might not be as great as he once was but he is still above average, Granderson is good. A healthy Gardner will help... they still have really solid pieces but they are aging and they haven't went out to make their team better but they are trying to maintain what they have. It should still likely be a 90+ win team.

Probably but he can also be a useful part next season or the season after that so its not that bad. It makes them a bit more competitive and they have some nice pieces on that team and play in AL Central. Its not a bad signing, they got him for reasonable value and they can afford it. It isn't like Cleveland can spend that money on international signings or the draft so why not get a good major league player.

Youk can't stay healthy either. Lost Ibanez who is great off the bench. Lost Swisher who can hit 20-25 bombs. Soriano opted out. Rivera might still be great but he's not getting younger.

Their starters are decent, nothing to brag about though. CC typically struggles the first 2 months.

I wouldn't be shocked if they finished 4th and Sox 5th. Weird..
