Kudos on knowing who they were!I think people are coming around on Harley, especially with the Team Canada call-up, but it is interesting that Heiskanen’s numbers are generally a bit better (better defensively by more than Harley is offensively), except for the huge disparity in goals for. Generally we wouldn’t assume that defensemen would have a significant impact on increasing goals for over expected goals for the way we would an elite forward/shooter like Draisaitl, but when it’s over 3 years it’s a pretty big trend.
whatWith regards to being mentioned as 'stars' in the NHL? Absolutely.
But because many DON'T, he is mentioned in this thread as a 'quiet star'. See?
And when his career is over and done with, barring some dibilitating injury well before that, his numbers should be quite worthy of mention with those names as well.
Anyone mention Necas yet?
homer vote Suzuki. not quite a bona fide star, but he's a nearly ppg 1C on a struggling team. his playstyle is not flashy, just effective and consistent.
Q.hughes says hiZach Werenski. He's probably the best all around dman in the game.
I’d like to cast Anze Kopitar into this list, perhaps. He gets the job done year after year and I don’t hear a lot of buzz around him usually. Maybe I’m just not paying enough attention though.
Is there a team that wouldn't want this guy? Not a superstar, but an excellent player who scores and plays with an edge when needed.Adrian Kempe . All the guy does is produce year after year and is totally forgotten playing out west.
He literally does everything well. Including play D here and there. Is there a team that wouldn't want this guy? Not a superstar, but an excellent player who scores and plays with an edge when needed.
At $5.5 million AAV, he's on one of the best team-friendly contracts in the league.
Pastrnak doesnt get talked about enough for how great he is. You can pencil him in for Top 5 in goals and points each year on a team that is brutal offensively. He's also a hat trick machine with 20 in his career
2023: 61-52-113, 61 goals was 127% more than 2nd best on the team and 113 pts was 69% more
2024: 47-63-110, 47 goals was 38% more than 2nd best on the team and 110 pts was 64% more
2025: 28-40-68, 28 goals is 40% more than 2nd best on the team and 68 pts is 54% more
But he's a relatively quiet and unassuming guy so that contributes to the quietP
