Plus he said Dickey was the ace. And I doubt Morrow is put before Johnson.

honestly Morrow and Johnson are a toss up. Both have filithy stuff, both the same age, both injury prone, both have some question marks. At the end of the day, both these guys can dominate a game at the level of a Verlander. Johnson's edge over Morrow is that he was a legitimate ace in his 2009 and 2010 season. Morrow has never had a season like that. Johnson was a nominee for the cy young in 2010, he had a 2.30 ERA in 186 IP. Are you kidding? Morrow's advantage over Johnson is that he's been a member of the Jays the last few years and he knows the organization. In his short season in 2012 Morrow pitched better then Johnson.

Dickey - no question here.
Johnson/Morrow -
Buerhle - gotta go with a lefty. You could go with Romero but Buerhle is the safe workhorse veteran.
Johnson/Morrow
Romero - Take away his 2012 season and he's pitching 2nd or 3rd. He's to much of a question mark to put 3rd right now.

100% agree

And if Morrow can pitch the way he did last year, Johnson regaining his 2010 form and both stay healthy ... Mother of God.

we dont need 8 relievers with this rotation
it would be nice to have an extra position player

I don't think anyone's suggesting having 8. Most people have said 7. That being said, there are interesting decisions to make in that pen.

If the Jays end up 3rd or worst in the AL East next year say goodbye to players like Bautista and our big fat Greek general manager.

I can not begin to fathom what AA would have to do to have Beeston lose faith in him next year.

If you can look at the roster now and tell me he didn't put the team into a position to contend then the blame for failure will be elswhere.

Potential 2014 AAA Buffalo rotation:

Huchinson
Drabek
McGuire
Jenkins
Nolin

Certainly eases concerns about rotation depth.

Indians and Rays over the Jays? Wow. Give me a break. The Rays will be in tough to even sniff a wild card spot. Indians same to them. Both of them are weak.

It's a prediction, people. A meaningless endeavor to drive up one's post count.

Based on what occurred last season (which nobody saw coming), I don't think anybody is in a position to actually critique another poster's prediction.

If it doesn't work this year, I can't see how Rogers will have faith in anyone.

That being said, my point was more that it's unlikely that the Jays don't grab one of the three playoff spots available to them.

The thing about a prediction is they're supposed to be what you presume to happen, not what may or could possibly happen. And right now most would presume the Jays have at least the second wild card spot. If we all just blindly guessed then someone would get it right all the time.

selling them WAY short. They'll be in there assuming things don't go crazy with injuries or something. They're a good team. It's not like they completely dismantled from last year's team that won 90 games in a division with 3 90+ game winners.

Just out of curiosity why did you put AL east and NL east? It's just the American league and National league.

Dude should just retire and enjoy his life (presuming he was smart enough to bank some of his earnings). There comes a point where it's just not worth it anymore trying all this crap to keep going.

Sure that is easier said than done. When you spend your whole life training for and preparing to be a MLB player its hard to imagine doing anything else. I can see his reasons.

They lost an elite innings eating pitcher and their speedy center fielder. They added Escobar and Myers. Myers could be something real special but has to prove himself. They have internal options for Shields but Shields isn't easily replaced. They'll still be a good team for sure but they'll have to get better production from their bats and without Shields will need to rely on their bullpen more as I doubt his replacement is gonna pitch the innings Shields logged last year. I think they'll lose more games than last year but not many more. I'd say they'll win about 85. Hopefully, with our new lineup games in TB won't be gimmies for them anymore.

So if they don't find their way into the playoffs the first year they go for it with essentially half the team being new players they will immediately sell off everyone and restart the rebuild and fire the gm that put it all together? Man oh man. Well as long as they keep the face of the franchise lol
