question:

lind + what gets corey hart? FA 10.333M this year (20% of the brewers current payroll, brewers look to finish 3rd again, maybe 4th if the pirates find a miracle, but in the race for the 2nd wild card. No more greinke and may lose marcum too.)
trending downwards given age, height, moving to 1B full time this year.

and if this is a move you'd want to do, is it something to do before the season or in july?
Lind + Dickey.

AA said we are at our cap limit hence moving insisting the Mets take on Bucks salary.

Komi was all star game player, not an actual league all-star; he won the Montreal reserved spot in a popularity contest. Who cares.
I'm a Habs fan - Komisarek deserved that. He was unreal for two seasons. Only two good seasons of his career but he was fantastic.

To be fair Burke can't use MLSE's assets to make moves allowing massive increases in payroll since the NHL has a cap. Going AA's route would also include trading Rielly and company.
I think Burke's problem was always spending to the cap. You need to spend a couple rebuilding years hiding in the weeds, buying time, and ready to pounce at a smokin deal like AA did. The trade between AA and Miami was so lop sided because we took advantage of a team desperate to shed salary.

Yeah but that doesn't happen in the NHL. With the cap you never have a team go nuts only to dump it all a season later. The 2 leagues just aren't comparable

I have a slightly different take on this. Since the team was reported to be sniffing around relievers (adding payroll with Grilli, +) before the trade, I take it to mean that the team would have been at it's cap limit if it didn't move Buck. I suspect there's enough left for one modest 4-6 mil signing.

Speaking of signings for relievers, I still really like the idea of bringing Carlos Villanueva back on a one-year deal, wondering if the strength of the team would be enticing enough. Having both him AND Happ in LR/spot starter roles would provide insane depth (seven potential starters on the roster) in the event of injury. It would remove any expectation on the injured guys returning needing to push it, and remove most of the reliance on guys like Jenkins/McGuire/Vargas at AAA to start if injuries occur: in the event that two starters go down, CV and JAH move up, and the two best arms (not starters!) come up from the system.

You regular posters should put together a blue jays FAQ. Why Arencibia's bat doesn't play at first, moving Lawrie back to second, the closer situation, etc. Answering the same couple offer questions once per week must get tiresome

Very few of those have definite answers though. People may feel strongly one way or the other but none are fact.

I'm surprised no one has suggested Thole as becoming our starting catcher. He's a couple months younger, better defensively, bats left and for contact which I prefer over a power hitter at the bottom of the order, and has a career batting average of .266 compared to Arencibia's .222.

Any news on Dickey being interviewed or presented alongside the other players we signed?

No news. If it is going to happen, it will likely wait until Spring Training when everybody is giddy and doing all sorts of interviews.

The ones he just mentioned have several definitive answers. Everybody's answers towards those specific topics always have common ground.

They'll likely be 1A and 1B.

No they don't. The Closer situation is far from a sure thing for example/

1 home run. Wooooow.

Also what's this I keep hearing about a $140 million cap limit? Is this the internal cap or is this before we go into luxury taxes? I still think the Jays need a number 5 1B/DH hitter and they need to demote Lind or trade him.

It could just be a smokescreen to get AA to have the Mets accept a somewhat albatross contract. He could've just feigned ignorance.

So we still can go to 140? no one knows what the cap limit is?

As per AA, they didn't know they will be where they are, but once he presented the deal (the first one) to the board, they approved it. I am sure he has a cushion still, but maybe the biggest move isn't going to come now, but at the trade deadline. Like Bobcat says "Cannot be a little pregnant - you either are, or you ain't"

The Dickey deal does little financial impact this year, but next year they will get $$ from the TV deal. Plus I am pretty effin sure that with the excitement and the buzz they are generating, we should see an increase in ticket sales, 10, 15% maybe? Especially if they are actually playing well into the deep of the season.

I'd like a 1B/DH and another arm for the bullpen, but I'm not complaining.

These are pieces, more specifically the 'pen help, that can be picked up throughout the season.

If JPA's defence continues to be sub par it could actually happen especially if his bat starts as slow as it did last year. Thole is very important to the Dickey situation though so I would imagine a split of time.

Swisher would be perfect for 1b/dh he might even wanna come here cheep to win.
