I think it's pretty safe to say he's done. Unless someone comes calling for Rasmus. Even then I'm not sure what he'd be able to do or want to do. We will not be signing LaRoche. There's a reason he keeps making trades instead of signing free agents. Reynolds I believe has already signed and he's not anything you should target anyway.

****, missed the Reynolds signing....personally not attached to any of the FAs.

Just wouldn't mind upgrading the Lind bat and keep Lind as an insurance policy for injuries.

He was always considered to be a guy with good power who would strike out a ton. Its been his scouting report pretty much from day 1.

Ya I agree. Im just saying he could benefit from some work with motolla

They don't even have Nessy, DeJong or Pillar up there.

I know they have an odd mix in there. I was gonna say maybe their too young but that's not it.

I'm sure we'll see a ton of moving around next year when guys get out of short season and get a little attention. They obviously aren't our top 20 by ceiling or potential. I do think it's funny seeing a bunch of guys move forward but Deck sits idle right around that 7 spot.

Hopefully d'Arnaud, Syndergaard, Nicolino, Marisnick all reach their potential. I hope Sanchez proves to be the best of the ex Lansing 3 and that prospects we have/will acquire keep impressing.

Believe it or not we are only 8 weeks away from the beginning of spring training. Wow.

So what are everyone's thoughts on what the bullpen will look like?

You've got the options here....

LHP:
Cecil
Happ
Loup
Perez
Crawford
Oliver *

RHP:
Delabar
Dyson
Janssen
Jeffress
Jenkins
Rogers
Santos

Plus you've got free agency that you can hit up. What are you expecting???

I would guess 2 lefties maybe 3, see ya crawford.

I don't think we even have Crawford anymore. Wasn't he claimed on waivers? Also Perez is out for a good long while after needing TJ late last year. And I wouldn't expect to see much of Dyson either.

Presuming no other moves and we run with a 7 man bullpen:

LR: Happ (LHP)
MR/LOOGY: Oliver or Cecil or Loup (all LHP)
MR: Lincoln (RHP)
MR: Rogers (RHP)
SU: Delabar (RHP)
SU: Janssen (RHP)
CL: Santos (RHP)

When individual tickets go on sale. I supposed to be hooked up with a few really good seats, but this won't be enough.

I think a true closer and Lyon would be the finishing touches to the bullpen, assuming Oliver is returning. I guess that would push guys like Cecil and Rogers out, but these would be clear upgrades.

Explain. He's in decline and would be a risk. Would much rather have Hanrahan.

He's coming back from his 2nd Tommy John surgery.

It would be a risk, but if we can sign him to a reasonable contract with a team option, I'd be ecstatic. Yeah, for sure I'd rather have the hammer too. But, what do you think we'd have to trade to get him? With Wilson we'd just be spending money, not losing anything valuable, with a huge reward available. I don't know, I guess I like taking chances if the reward is high enough. Janssen was good as our closer, but he's better suited as a reliever, and IMO Santos was awful as our closer, hopefully he plays like he did before coming to Toronto.

What the hell is a "true closer"? Santos isn't a closer? Janssen isn't a closer? They've been in the position of being the 9th inning guy and succeeded. That's all a closer is.

Presumably you mean that you want the Jays to spend money on a name 9th inning guy, which honestly I think is just a silly waste of resources (and something I've gone over my reasons for repeatedly in these threads). Besides, who is even on the market right now except for 2 TJ surgery Brian Wilson?

I still don't like losing TDA. He could turn out to be an all star catcher and those are hard to get.

Already stoked for next year. Knowing the Jays luck, Dickey will suck, Morrow and JJ will get injured and Romero will pitch like he did last season.

What I meant is I wouldn't trust Janssen or Santos in Game 7 of the World Series. Our current guys haven't been long term closers, and I want to see a guy with a long track record of being clutch in high pressure situations. This a very important piece to a team who wants to be a World Series contender.

You guys need to relax, I don't get the need to correct and create arguments with everyone that comes on here to throw in their two cents. The know it all attitude in here is really obnoxious.

Well in all fairness, how many guys have been consistently clutch in high level situations who are available? There's pretty much no one...

I'm just so happy...

Leafs, we had Sundin but never went above and beyond and we'll harp about him never having wingers for the rest of our days.

Raptors, had stars come in and out but never a supporting cast to make things good enough

Jays? Halladay & nobody else was the tragedy of that era. Before him Delgado was the lone man on the skeleton crew.

We were on the verge of this being the crying shame of wasting Bautista (and now EE?) but finally, thankfully, mercifully, ownership in Toronto has decided to finish the job for once and at least remove the regret factor of what could have been.
