Prospects AA trades always end up falling on their face.

Watch D'Arnaud hit .200/.275/.375 as a rookie next season, Syndergaard implodes like Nester Molina, Dickey throws sub 2.00 ERA and JPA hits .275/.350/.550 and everyone forgets they hated JPA last year :sarcasm:

This team is looking really stacked. Now that we are CLEARLY in "Win now mode", we might as well try to upgrade even more at maybe catcher or DH. I see our available pieces as Rasmus, Lind and JPA.

1. Reyes
2. Melky
3. Bautista
4. EE
5. Lawrie
6.
7.
8. Bonifacio
9. Gose

I love having speed at the top and bottom of the order. And that linuep is with out Arencibia, Rasmus and Lind.

I'll put my money on D'Arnaud turning into the catcher most believe he will and that Noah continues to improve. JPA obp'ing at .350 is hilarious. Hitting .275 is just as comical

I hate, absolutely hate, the fact we had to give up TDA. I love his potential and have him pegged as a Brian McCann type catcher.

Getting Dickey though is pretty good. From what I've seen, most knuckleballers can continue their form from 38-41(arbitrarily chosen), and the fact that he has 2 different types of knuckleball really helps him. It pegs us as favorites in the AL East (I thought the Rays were our biggest competition before this) and if all goes to plan (JJ goes back to normal form, Dickey continues to be an ace), we could be World Series contenders.

People keep hyping up the Rays as the second best team in the AL, but I just can't believe that the Yankees will tolerate losing. I get they're in trouble with A-Rod, Jeter and the loss of Swisher, but they always seem to play better than they are on paper (playoffs aside). They'll make moves mid season if they have a poor start.

If they're getting Pineda back I like their rotation. I think we'll be battling it out with them next season for top spot in the East.

Both catchers have caught Dickey. Thole will catch every game Dickey throws and the other guy is there just in case Thole gets hurt

I actually like the Thole pick up as a back up either way but I just checked in on the other guy as I just got home a little while ago. There's an obvious reason for him to be the 3rd string I guess. I know why they picked him up just didn't know anything about him.

It won't happen this year. In the articles on the trade I read today Buck had to be included because he was tapped out on money for the year. Lind and JPA are a lot easier pill to swallow with the players we have around them. Mottola also has a way with Lind and with a little luck may turn him around a little bit for us

Agreed. If JP's obp is anywhere close to .350, I'll eat my shoe.

Not many of the Jays top picks within the last 10 years or so have flourished, at least while in Toronto. Some have had good seasons, but have also regressed (Lind, Hill, Romero, Cecil, etc.). This is why I'm not going to get all squirrelly about giving up top prospects in a trade for an established star player.

Would be nice if JP gets a .750 OPS, let alone a .900.

Rasmus being moved out with Gose taking his place would save money.

Did you just dare to blashphamize Alexander "The Great" Anthopoulos's magic? The Greek gods who gifted our dear leader his power do not smile on you.

He is the insurance plan if Thole gets hurt so we never have to suffer through JPA trying to catch a knuckleball.

He caught Dickey 7 times last season.

I didn't know he caught him that many times last year but I just meant in terms of his bat. Talk about non existent.

Past prospects busting doesn't mean current ones will.

Yea its not good. But that isnt why he was brought in. He is an insurance plan destined for AAA.

I know I touched on that in another post. There's a reason for being the 3rd string catcher.

Any examples other than Molina?

You could be right though, he could have sold high on Syndergaard. AA could have a gut feeling he won't develop a 3rd pitch
