-Anthopoulos "had no idea" he would have this kind of money to spend this offseason

-The Blue Jays wanted Mike Nickeas in the deal in case of an injury to Josh Thole, so that they can have a backup catcher who has caught Dickey's knuckleball before

-Noah Syndergaard was the last player the Mets insisted on acquiring, according to Anthopoulos . By that point, Travis d'Arnaud had been on the table for more than a week.

-John Buck's inclusion and the Mets absorption of his salary came about because the Blue Jays were at their financial limit, according to Anthopoulos

Miami and Zona

They're retractable roofs, but not domes. They're open-air retractable roofs, so even with the roof in place, the air still flows through just the same (or relatively the same) as when it's open.

Safeco (Seattle), Minute Maid (Houston) and Miller Park (Milwaukee) are the same way. Rogers Centre is the only retractable roof that seals into a dome when closed, and the Trop is the only 100% always-sealed indoor stadium.

ESPN's 3 year splits only show 1 game at the Trop and none at Rogers Centre. If that's true, over the last 3 years, his only dome experience is a single 1-hit, 1-run complete game with 12 Ks.

There's other stadiums that while not domes like Rogers Centre, are domes like Chase Field. It's closed often enough I'd call it a dome.

E: I see you adressed it above, but I'd consider it a "dome" atmosphere even if it's not a dome in the technical sense. As well, Arizona is so hot they often closed everything off to the outside.

Fair enough, for the hell of it though (small sample)

Dickey in seven starts indoors since 2010: 52¹/³ innings pitched, 42 hits, 10 earned runs, 44 strikeouts, 10 walks, and a 1.73 ERA.

assuming theyre counting games at places like Miami/Arizona/etc

Edit: Again, small sample size but regarding how he'll fair against the AL East

R.A. Dickey in six starts against American League East teams since 2010, including three against the Yankees: 42 innings, 20 hits, eight earned runs, 45 strikeouts and 11 walks, and a 1.71 ERA

don't post here often but I am ****ing pumped for the jays.

really hope the fans come out and support!!

I know I am planning on getting at least a 10 game flex pack... when normally I usually attend about 2-5

Did he ever pitch in Minnesota's old ball park?

how? morrow probably deserves it the least of anybody.

Why is he the least deserving? Service time, and talent. (He did have the lowest ERA last year btw) Put that together and I'd start him opening day aswell. Let the newcomers get their feet wet in the dugout before starting.

Edit: whoops Dickey had a lower era, but not by much.

Considering he plays in the NL, and the only teams that have indoor stadiums are Toronto and Tampa who both play in the AL, yes that would be an incredibly small sample size lol

Perhaps it was going back to his time with Texas and/or including Arizona/Seattle, etc.

Otherwise, the stat would be meaningless. Wish I remember who I read that from.

i thought minny just got a inside stadium?

edit: nvm thought they did for some reason.

Yes. In 09 he was a member of the Twins in their last year in the Metrodome. that year he was 0-1 with a 4.76 ERA in 19 games (34 innings) with a .299 opponent BA, 24 Ks, and 14 walks. Of course that was before his 3 superior Mets years as a starter (and before his total conversion to a knuckleballer. He still threw more fastaballs and fewer knucklers than he did in 10-12). In the last 3 years he has no games played against the Twins.

his service time is less than Romero, and Romero was the #1 before him

His ERA was good last year but he didnt finish the year, and he's been mediocre prior

Johnson, Beuhrle, and Dickey are all more acclaimed and valuable to the team...

I really see no reason why Morrow should even be up for discussion outside of his great ERA in limited innings last year

Clearly you have never seen him pitch. He is incredibly valuable, end of story.

He had 21 starts last year and in 13 of them gave up 1 or 0 runs. About as dominant as it gets.

If i'm not mistaken, Safeco Field in Seattle is the only one of these retractable roof stadiums that is fully open to the outside.

Others like Arizona, Houston and Milwaukee, provide some sort of air-conditioning or air circulation when the roof is closed to control the temperature. When the roofs are closed, they are not fully "open air" at all; they use these giant windows and baffles to control air flow and temperature as desired. In most cases, both Houston and Arizona tend to close their roofs in the summer to avoid the searing heat, while Milwaukee tends to close during Spring and Fall to avoid the cold; they did not install AC due to costs concerns.

If you check out Dickey's stats for some of his starts in Arizona or Houston, you'll see that the game log notes that the conditions were "In Dome", with no reports on outside weather (sunny, cloudy, wind direction and speed) other than the ambient temperature of the dome.

From July 29, 2012 - NYM @ ARI.....temperature 76*, in dome http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/ARI/ARI201207290.shtml

Exactly what I said about Nickeas. Makes sense.

I'm sure Arencibia will catch him quite a bit during spring training though just to see if he can handle it.

Was the dome actually shut during that game even? Or does Tampa's dome open?

JJ said he thinks Morrow should be the ace (before Dickey) and said his stuff is nasty, take it from a major leaguer that Morrow is a stud. Id like the rotation to go Morrow Dickey Burehle JJ Romero to make sure teams dont see the same type of pitcher when they play the jays.

i know this doesn't have anything to do with the jays but is that T swift in a leafs jersey?
