Yup I think that looks perfect. Although you might see Morrow and Johnson flipped--- might want to keep him happier for resigning reasons.

yeah you can flip Morrow or Johnson as long as there's a lefty in between them. It's worth noting though that Johnson stated Morrows stuff as filthy and he expected him to be the ace before the dickey rumours. It would be sick to have Johnson start the series against the SOX. Having Johnson - Romero has our 4-5 is like having a 1-2 all over again, and then in the 3rd game its back to RA Dickey LOL.

I got this from the main Jays message board. I found it pretty funny.

Ken Rosenthal reports that the Toronto Blue Jays have just completed an incredible 30-team deal that sees them trading their entire projected 25-man roster in 2013 for the top 50 draft picks in 2016. Alex Anthopoulos had this to say about the trade:

"I had thought I was on the right track in building a winning team for 2013, but after I consulted the Toronto Blue Jays MLB message board and saw a mixed reaction to the Marlins trade and absolute derision for the Mets trade I decided to change course. I mean, these people...the top 7 or 8 guys on there...have managed to rack up over a million posts between them through various current, banned and fake accounts going back to 2003 when they stated that Dustin McGowan was a perennial ace. They've spent hours consulting fangraphs.com and various publications ranking the top prospects in baseball, all while getting absolutely nowhere in terms of becoming a baseball scout or some other kind of vocation in baseball so they CLEARLY know more than me. They even managed to collect a 16 year old groupie who goes around and cheer leads every comment they make!".

Alex comments on the team for 2013 and beyond:

"Well Ken, yeah, after this trade we are going to be pretty bad in 2013. But we get the first 50 draft picks in 2016 so our minor league system is going to be STACKED for years. By 2022 we will be a dominant team...or maybe not if they don't pan out...but the fun part will be waiting to find out! I'm just so happy I could please the Blue Jays message board fan boys who can rack up another million posts in the next 8 years talking about our great prospects!!!".

Gose has technically graduated but sure, I'll give it to you that he is still a prospect. Hutch is too (they both barely graduated). Most of those guys are a LONG way away. Closest to majors out of that group is perhaps Stroman who could make it quick as a reliever but if he was starting, that would probably take some time.

Guys at the lower levels don't hold nearly as much trade value as guys close to majors, upper levels is totally gutted and I don't think we can expect much help from the farm system for the next 2-3 years at least. Hopefully, Jays mix in some college players (specifically some bats please) that might start to push the major league guys.

You have to admit that a lot of the guys they do have at the low levels have great potential-- alford, osuna, sanchez, davis, smoral--- all have very high ceilings. Hopefully they Jays compete or win for the next 3-4 seasons and by that time some of those kids develop into elite prospects to join those still around. I don't think the cupboard is completely bare like it was with JP.

Sure but where exactly are we going to need help on the major league roster over the next 2-3 seasons?

If we get injurys we have guys like Cooper, Sierra, Loup etc who can fill in and fill the void for a short period.

Just trying to point out that we still have talent in the system and its not totally gutted. Maybe we take a college bat int he draft and he shoots thru quickly? Maybe we get back Wilmer Flores in the Mets deal who isnt that far away? Maybe we deal someone like Rasmus this season and get back a few good prospects?

It's not overpayment unless TDA and Syndergaard develop into an all star catcher and a #2 SP, and even then, it's equal value assuming Dickey stays with us for at least 3-5 quality seasons

(all star for all star, to upgrade a #2 to a #1)

You also have to factor in Dickey's contract, which is $5m in 2013 coming off his best season ever, and possibly 12-15 million a year for 2-3 years after, which is really cost effective in today's free agent market for starting pitching. It also either allows us to keep Josh Johnson, or comfort the blow if he leaves.

but in all likelyhood, both of them won't reach their MAX potential, so we *should* win this one

Well I guess I just look at things differently then you. I don't expect AA to win every move, thats not how it works. You have to give to get. I can't read AA's mind but I would guess he's in it to win now, which means, he thinks guys like Syndergaard won't be ready by the time Bautista and Edwin are still in their prime. So what does he do he uses some of our depth which we can afford to give up to bolster the big club even further. Do you understand that? You're acting like we just gave away two great prospects for nothing. We took the future and put it towards the now. Our cupboards are still full, AA in that article said they will still be busy with International signings as they've always been. Nothing is going to change with how we do business with scouting and drafting, so wtf is the problem if he overpaid a little to try to get this team into the playoffs for the first time in 20 years. Were you even born when they last made the playoffs?

We haven't even had meaningful games in September for freakin years, and now we overpay a bit and people are just losing their minds. It's quite hilarious.

I am very much old enough to have seen the jays win the world series and remember it quite well. We do see this differently on that I won't argue. I love how full of yourself you are though. I understand why he's doing it. That doesn't mean I need to agree with it. D'Arnaud is ready to play today and is better than Arencibia so how does that play into your theory? JPA and Noah should have IMO been plenty enough to get this deal done. If that was the deal I'd still view it as a bit of an overpayment but I'd accept it much easier. At no point did I say he wouldn't be active in international signings and through the draft. But those have nothing to do with this trade or our depth as every team will be doing the same. Listen I'm pumped for the up coming season and I'm pumped to have Dickey. I just think this is gonna be one of those trade we'll look back on and wince a little. If we win one or two WS in the next few years. yeah no one will care much at all. But if we do struggle and don't win guys will be freaking out about how bad AA is and I guarantee it won't be the regular poster here talking about this being an overpayment.

That site is bizarro world.
I swear we could win the WS and theres a few posters on there who would complain that we didnt do it efficiantly. It's funny that post tho and true, a few certain posters drain down over everyone and really all they care about is advanced stats and win per value etc and they think the game can be totally figured out on a computer.

question: what will our team salary be at in 2014 once Dickey is making his 12-15m and Johnson gets his extension for $Xm?

I never realized how funny the word derision could be until I read it there

"They even managed to collect a 16 year old groupie"

This is the funniest part of it. Anyone that reads that board would understand

Although it's not looking that way, I really hope Ike Davis is coming back in the trade. I'm fine with the trade either way but getting Davis would be great.

10/10 would read again. :laugh::handclap::laugh::handclap:

David Price is no doubt the the best pitcher in the division, maybe someone could do a Dickey/Sabathia comparison over the last 3 years to see who is the second?

2010 - 2012

RA Dickey

615 IP 2.96 ERA 6.84 K/9 2.19 BB/9 1.15 WHIP

CC Sabathia

675 IP 3.17 ERA 8.31 K/9 2.39 BB/9 1.19 WHIP

I'm watching the Daily Show with RA Dickey episode, and it's funny, Stewart even says he hopes RA doesn't win the Cy Young or else the Mets will trade him away, and then Dickey expresses some concern about being traded away with his family to somewhere far off like LA...or Tor-on-to

Fantastic post.

I've been saying this for the last few years. There are certain people who would rather their teams be in a perpetual state of rebuilding than ever take a shot at winning it all. The grass roots rebuilding process isn't the only way to do it. It's the slow, patient way, but there's a time when a team needs to just go for it. Now is that time for the Toronto Blue Jays. With Boston and New York regressing this is our year to make a splash.
