Just an exercise- Ranking the projected best pitchers in the division for next season

1)Price
2)Sabathia
3)Dickey
4)Johnson
5)Hellickson
6)Morrow
7)Moore
8)Kuroda
9)Hammel
10)Buehrle
11)Tillman
12)Lester
13)Romero
14)Pettitte
15)Cobb

.... I recognize its highly subjective but thats probably order I would want them on my team for next season

Moore better than Morrow, Hellickson worst than both.
Lester and Romero ahead of Tillman, Wei-Yin Chen and Dylan Bundy ahead of Tillman, Pettitte and Cobb.

Actually, If Bundy pitches 150 innings, I'd wager he's their best starter over Hammel.

I'd argue that Morrow is better than Hellickson. Even if that isn't the case, we still have arguably 3 pitchers in the top 6 best in the division and 4 in the top 10. If Ricky rebounds we could have all 5 in the top 10. Not bad at all if you ask me.

With all those changes, should've just re-did the list :P

Hellickson is too high on that list. I'd take Morrow and Moore over him. Kuroda too for next year only.

I could have, but then I'd have to spend time studying the data of all these players because when I make lists I like to put all my knowledge into it.

Or you could've just stated what you just did and did the list quickly anyways.. Lazy jerk :P

I was trying to base it at least off past performance a bit--- I recognize bundy could be great next season but hes a complete unknown. No chance I have Chen in the top 15.

Moore, Morrow, and Hellickson are all very close and could go wherever really. Moore has probably the highest potential- hellickson has the track record- morrow has potential and some history of dominance.

I think Chen and Cobb are probably better than Tillman and Pettitte. You're right about Bundy, he could be bad next year.

RA Dickey is a great example of why as contenders we should be looking to trade prospects for RA Dickey.

Highly touted first round pick. By the time he got to the majors was a "dime a dozen" pitcher... struggled for the better half of the decade before becoming an all-star calibre pitcher.

I can't help but feel if he threw 95 with a nasty hammer the response from the masses would be so high.

But after watching how all-stars are made to look like little leaguers by that knuckler... there shouldn't be any question about this.

I love it because we're the only team in the league with a KB pitcher, which just will make watching games all that much more fun.

Let's face it, since Doc left we've had a void to fill and he just may be the pitcher one *has* to watch every week.

JJ's in a contract year, he could be that type of a guy as well. I can't wait for the baseball season to start up, the Jays are going to be great to watch.

Or Morrow or Romero, depending on circumstances

the one thing about Doc that made him so fun to watch for me was that he was always gunning for that CG. It was always the Doc Show when he was on.

Potential rotation with first two home series. I don't think the order of the top 3 really matter (excluding playoffs ofcourse), but I like the idea of Morrow starting.

vs Cle
Tue - Morrow
Wed - Dickey
Thurs - Johnson

vs BOS
Fri - Buerhle
Sat - Romero
Sun - Morrow

Hellickson advanced stats totally freaking suck. I mean, he put up a FIP of 4.60 last year! That's good for 13th worst in the league, worse than Luis Mendoza/Zito/Hughes and slightly better than pitchers like Bruce Chen and Jason Vargas. He is due for HUGE regression even if his peripherals improve. J.A. Happ put up a better FIP than Hellickson last year. There is no chance, absolutely no chance he outperforms his peripherals by this much. Even if he has some sort of skill in outperforming it, there is no way any pitcher can outperform by this much, he is due for huge regression. He needs to move down the list a lot.

Anyone hoping that this is all a smoke screen and the Jays are letting Seattle know that they are willing to deal Travis and Noah+ for elite pitching (Felix)

When you think about it, Jays best chance to win is within the next couple seasons. Johnson is no guarantee to re-sign so next season is even more important. If Dickey performs what he averaged in his 3 year tenure in New York at least one or two seasons it may very well be worth it.
