I think we can not count on the health luck to continue into 2024 that's for sure. I really want to make a run at the division title, Jays have to hit in order to make it happen. Vladdy needs to show that he is worth a big investment for a long time.
Last couple years a lot of talking heads had the Jays contending for the division title.

I don't think anyone in their right mind will make that prediction now.

Could it happen? Sure. But nothing that they did in the off season projects confidence.

I don't see the Orioles regressing that quickly, Yanks will be pissed because they got embarrassed last year and didnt make the playoffs, Rays are Rays, they always get some no name joe schmoe's to overperform, I think that leaves the Jays and Red Sox as the least predictable ones to win the division.

If the Jays were banking on Manoah, then Rodriguez makes a ton of sense (again, had to have someone else to fill in for injuries, but there's also back end BP potential in his stuff).

Willing to bet we were being lowballed to the point of being a giveaway and are forced to rebuild value. I feel like the bridge was pretty burned last year with him questioning the team sending him down with his awful performance.

Robert Murray: I don’t think the Blue Jays are done. I don’t anticipate a big move, but I think they can end up making some other moves to round out the roster. If Bellinger/Chapman linger on the market and their prices come down, it’s anyone’s guess where they could end up

Vlad, Manoah, Kirk, Varsho all rebounding and having much improved seasons over last year is crucial for our overall success.

I know we all want to sign or trade for some big names but we need to get alot more from those 4 players.

And really if we’re expecting our rotation to not play as well as last season (which is fine), then the least we could do is expect our hitters to play better than last season. Being historically bad in RISP situations shouldn’t carry over year to year.

No one is willing to commit long term to Belllinger, he had a great year last season but can he replicate that in a contract year? At best, probably 3-4 years for him now.

I’m sure he could still get 5, likely even 6 or 7 at his asking price. But thinking he can command 10-12 years like the more established guys have gotten in years past is likely false hope. Boras wants to get him his retirement contract but he’ll probably be forced to get a more abbreviated one with some opt outs.

And the Jays really don’t do opt outs. I think Berrios is the only one they’ve done aside from the unique structure of Green’s deal.

Rosenthal reporting the O’s are closing in on a deal for Corbin Burnes.

New ownership already more aggressive?

Frankly, you need assets to make moves and we have a depleted farm system and this FA pool was crap.

Hope is our strategy.

I heard them saying on the radio that the Jays are up to the same level of salary now as last year?

how could that be with Chapman (12,5M), Ryu (20M), Belt (9.3M), Merrified (8.8M) all leaving, and it didnt feel like the 3 signings were for all that much?

Is it all the raises to the arb players?
