Part of the problem of course is that without Demko, they've been forced to play Silovs in the second-half of these games. And to say he's 'struggled' is to put it mildly.

Maybe it's time to think about giving Tolopilo a game? How can it get much worse? They need at least three out of four wins to hang in the playoff race, after going 3-5 coming out of the Four Nations break.

He was .938 in that first game, hardly "struggling" and he's had nothing but crap starts lately. If Lank plays tonight he will play a 2nd of back to back road games for a thrid straight time. If he could play a string of more winnable games he might well catch fire. Tolopilo would get devoured in these kind of starts...

Joshua, Blueger and Garland were fantastic together last game.

They've been fine, but this team has been bottom of the league in offense for a while. The point is to get more juice out of the top six, Hoglander is the only forward with a positive goal differential (+9) since Christmas. He should be in the top six. DeBrusk is leading the team in goals, Joshua has 4 goals.

Boeser and Pettersson always suck together.

I'd rather they ran something like this:

• Would like Hughes to get a practice or two, before playing, but with so few games left will need to change the protocols
• Not playing tonight but TBD going forward
• Haven’t talked about traveling to Calgary yet

Starting Goalies

• Lankinen starting tonight
• Will talk about tomorrow’ starter after the game

Junior Pettersson

• If you can cultivate young defenceman early on, it’s a boon
• Has done a really nice job of slowly building his game up
• Takes information well and has all the attributes of a really good 2-way defenceman

Generating Offence

• Are a 4 line team and need production from everybody
• Certain guys, especially on the powerplay, need to produce more
• Need to be some urgency
• Always want someone to get hot
• Need the wherewithal to pass and when not, when to pass and when not, when to take it to the net and when not; needs to be instinctual
• Need to keep showing and practicing offense
• Get better at hitting the net and shot location
• It’s on coaching to get them to score more
• Can’t make a player into a pure goal scorer but can help them up their offensive game
• Need to score on their odd-man rushes

Lines

• Looking for Chytil and DeBrusk to find some chemistry
• Need to play better as a group

Culture

• If you want to change the culture and be a winning organization, you have to earn it
• Trying to become a winning clun and everyone has to earn their way
• No entitlement around here
• If the Canucks are going to go anywhere, the players who got called out last game need to play

Sickness

• O’Connor and Junior had the flu last night and were kicked out of practice
• Both players will play tonight

Looking at that Canuck lineup, you have to question whether they have a single guy right now who you'd classify as a legitimate 'top-six winger'.

I suppose Debrusk and Boeser are closest they have--but not the way they've been playing recently. The inescapable conclusion is that this just isn't a well-constructed roster right now.

But can't be fixed now until the off-season.

Good to see they are changing protocols so Hughes can play when he shouldn't
