Will the rangers once again trade away yet another 1st round pick? Stay tuned.

To be honest i wouldnt mind doing it if it landed us a top 4 RH defensemen under 26. Dont see us missing the playoffs which will make the pick 15-30. If we can land a fairly young RH defensemen with upside for 1st+, it is a no-brainer imo.

how can a system create shooting percentage that are unsustainable in the playoffs (but not the regular season)
In Vancouver, it was due to a lack of firepower behind the Sedins, especially because he didn't deviate from feeding them offensive zone starts when they were losing matchups to Bolland, Legwand or Bergeron.

In New York, it's because of a lack of top end at forward. They have to use their fourth line's defense more, which cuts into their strength in the middle six. Plus, teams play their best players more and line match more diligently, compounding the Rangers' lack of opportunities.

Interesting how in Vancouver it was the opposite problem yet somehow it's still AV's system. The Rangers scored enough in 13-14 with less offensive talent than this year to win the cup. Their defense and a bit of bad luck let them down. 14-15 through the first two series the O was terrible, I'll give you that but they still made it into the ECF. Would the Rangers have benefited if they had the depth but also instead of Stepan and Brassard, Crosby and Malkin? Yes. But that's a bit of a tall task and doesn't mean that's the only way to win. Crosby and Malkin didn't do **** in the playoffs for years.

Anyway, this board is predictable. The O sucks because it doesn't have big names!

Also regarding the shooting percentage the Rangers' shooting percentage in 13-14 wasn't high in fact it was pretty low but they played a possession game. They changed their style the last two seasons and after last season it seems like they changed it back to what it looked like in 13-14. Actually one positive is that it seems we have some of the positives of the last two years where we're getting not only possession but high quality shots. Look at the PDO it's a shade under 100. Nothing unsustainable. Absolutely nothing.

If St. Louis doesn't get any huge offers for Shattenkirk, Rangers could easily offer up a mediocre bundle of prospects and picks and a warm body and end up walking away with him.

My favourite candidates are Ryan Ellis, Vatanen and Shattenkirk.

Reminder that we have the three spots for Ds for the expansion draft already covered with McDonagh, Staal and Girardi.

One of those players would as I see it make the Rangers an real top contender again. Now they in the group that could pull if off if everything goes there way. Especially with that great deep offense. The only peace missing is an great 2.

Aan side question on the Girardi-contract. Does the "Modified NTC, NMC" tag along if he was to wave his NTC this season? Or is it of the books so to say after an trade? Seem to remember something about that from another trade some years ago. Because that would of course increase his probaility of someone taking him in an trade. If he waves hif NTC of course...

Kreider, Stepan, Zib, McDonagh, Vesey, Buchnevich will not be traded. Build a trade around the other pieces.
